Have renovation costs came down recently ? Or still Chao Chao 100k ?

Tbh, ID mark up is alot, sometimes i dont really understand why people go through ID way. I see most id mark up have around 30%. I understand that they need to make a living too. But so far, most of the ID i see is half bucket of water. They are like fedex. Just transfer message from owner to their contractor, no input no technical knowldege. They just basically cordinator.

that’s an insult to fedex. Fedex got standards. ID folks are no different from real estate agents.

Why nowadays home renovation so expensive? I want to do a simple 4-5 room hdb flat also 80-100k. Not even doing much carpentry.

8 years ago, 35k I can settle the whole renovation for my old flat for similar work done.

My friend renovated the whole house with designer and material from taobao. Only use local Tiong worker to work according to plan.

Save a lot of $$$

U can do yourself just call the contractors don't go ID.

I liaise with contractors myself and saved alot of money for my houses

Contractors, but not one Main Contractor…Cause some main Contractors may act like another ID (mark up everything from other contractors)…..

ID folks are not even governed. not qualifications needed.

real estate got accreditation.

ID folks don't even have basic common sense in engineering.

Last time I just started work, not much money. I renovated my 5 room flat for 10k. If take inflation into consideration, at current value would be 20-30k.

This i disagree. I like working with owners. Tbh, working with owners have better margin. Working with ID, payment slow, always press price, finish still must give rebate to big boss. But yes, sometimes owner really new to all this, they will ask simple question that make u stunned like vegetable. But its worth it since have better margin.

Actually if u go carousell see, some of the contractors say NO ID PLEASE. im also one of them.

Depends de. Renovating a new or resale unit can have a big difference in renovation costs esp if u need to overhaul the resale. And if one looks for ID, its usually a lot more exp than contractor.

Just a resales toilet already $10k.
And cannot use toilet for two weeks.
