For best foods, best to check with local colleagues instead of gg to the tourist spots. I do that for Japan also.

but after Covid , always been going to japan and korea.

reason : If those youtube videos of massive unemployment, bankruptcies and what nots are true, that means there's a lot of desperate people in there.

when there's a lot of poor and desperate people, I don't want to be in that country doing anything as a tourist.

ya there is alot of those youtube videos, visited 3 provinces aside from my wife province, things were normal in the street view in the capital cities, i did not find anything like the youtube videos.

But some shopping malls high ends were lacking of people thou. bullet trains in dec dont need to book at all, u can last minute book, can get tickets. beautiful renovated rooms were cheap at 100rmb a day, all is great for me.

The behavior of Shitizens there plus the public toilets are enough to make me not want to visit Cheena for holidays!

You may question, but you've not been there, why make this kind of comments. I've been to all the Big 4 1st tier cities plus a few smaller 2nd and 3rd tier cities for work （北上广深）. Purely for work trips, so far I only extend one of my trip to Shenzhen for a couple of days so I can take a train to Guangzhou.

I don't mind go, I went to bj for weekend explore the palace and tourist place. Some modern place are even better and nicer than orchard road. In China I don't even need to exchange cash I use alipay and wechat pay. Other and pay via wechat in resturant, food scheme is very competitive, so the service and food is in really good quality. However in bj inner circle, some old buildings do retain its original state, like in some toilet I open the door, straight away can see one guy squatting in front of me ps. Other than that all is ok. I wanted to plan a trip to yunnan or chongqing er Mei shan sometime for sight seeing

6 Years ago, my wife was like you. Simi communist, simi no freedom.

Took her to Beijing and her jaw almost dropped. We have visited visited china 6 times and 18 china cities since then.

We use gomo or ICC card, no issue with whatsapp, insta, facebook.
Don't use google map!

The only issue we face is dirty toilets.

during CNY, i once drove from hunan to shenzhen. it normally takes 9 hrs, but the heavy traffic increased that to 2 days. the interstate rest areas sold instant noodles and had hot water for customers. malaysia doesn't have such service. i'm fine with any hygiene standards, but i felt it was comparable to malaysia, europe & america's interstate rest areas. it all depends of usage frequency. heavy use means it will stink more

China is a must visit tourist place in our life. Only issue is not enough time to cover the vast landscape...

Chinese saying goes, 不到长城非好汉. Luckily I have been to 八达岭. Many more places to explore, not enough time.

Don’t do or say anything stupid and you should fine. Never encountered any pickpockets or anything so I will say ok la.

I was in hangzhou and I could use Google maps and WhatsApp intermittently. I used hotel wifi . No vpn. But it’s intermittent and mostly doesn’t work but every now and then I got some access. I dunno why. I wanted to ask the hotel staff but something told me it was a glitch and better not say anything

The sight sure will traumatize me. Especially in the morning, see a guy ps and saw his poo still connected to his butt hole and drop into the hole. Spoil mood for the entire trip.

Google map info is outdated and led us on a wild goose chase.

No issue with whatsapp, insta, fb, no vpn needed. ICC and GOMO ftw!

I go hainan often due to businesses.

And I often see indo ladies. I don't know why they are there. Heard there's a malay village in hainan or something.

All the lan zhou ramen are halal, they are very common. Now and then you can find xinjiang bbq restaurants or street stall. But still I think not easy for you to move around unless you did alot of homework and use a translator tool.

If you not looking for Europe architecture, China is way better than Europe. Peace of mind, fantastic transportation, equally as beautiful scenery and mood. More plus points for that "ambience".
