The Porsche 911 Turbo (930) is nicknamed "the Widowmaker" because of its tendency to oversteer and crash. This is due to its rear engine layout and short wheelbase.

Why is it called the Widowmaker?
  • The 930's handling characteristics were unfamiliar to many drivers.

  • The 930's rear weight distribution made it difficult to maintain control.

  • The 930's turbocharger would kick in at high RPMs, causing the car to oversteer.

  • Inexperienced drivers would often cut through an apex, expecting to maintain power, but would lose control when the turbo kicked in.
Really not for noobies to drive huan
This is not a Turbo. It has no side air intakes for the engine. That said, the 911 does handle quite differently from many other cars indeed - even in non turbo variations. I almost spun out the first week I started driving one just exiting a carpark.

Edit to clarify: by non Turbo I mean the 911 model. They are all turbo equipped these days.

You can be an CEO, towkay or ASK, but if you die in such an accident, people will remember you for the accident instead of all your wealth and accomplishments.

insai got turbo also .... see the speed so fast ....

Does the 911 Carrera have a turbo?

The engine of the 911 models has a twin-turbo configuration. Its stand-out qualities: exceptional power across the speed range, extraordinarily direct responsiveness and a wide torque plateau, even at low speeds.

Wow the fire started so fast once the car stopped moving. I don't think the driver stand a chance to get out unless he can move and open the car door immediately.
No chance. His fuel tank was opened by the guard rails. Can opener. You can see the burning gas just gush over the road.

Easy to get out of control?

They are all made with turbos. The HP difference is considerable between the entry level and Turbo S and is a massive factor in controllability. I used to drive one (non turbo branding) and I drive a Panamera today.

Nowadays, there are a lot of egoistic luxury car drivers who like to speed and drive impatiently.
