Yup. I tried and felt the same.so so only
That was when we first time there, don't know eat what, so eat at the coffeshop.Yup. I tried and felt the same.
Just the novelty idea of fried with duck eggs
Good idea to stay overnight in order to explore the whole area at leisure. Where have you been staying so far?
That one time we stayed at Sunway Hotel, I guess back then not many places were established so the longest walk was NSK to Starbucks. When we're heading to Eco after checking out, I was thinking people would have thought we're crazy if we'd tried walking out the previous day. It's generally bare land around.![]()
JB problem, too many shophouse clusters everywhere, if high rent low footfall also die. Just the new area (clusters) at Mt Austin, need months to years to rent out the place and attract crowd to go there. Outside Sutera Mall another new shophouses waiting to rent out but good location should fill up very fast. When was the last time you were there ?
We usually stay at Sunway Grid (Residence). We have been meaning to try Sunway hotel one of these days. There is still is a lot of bare land around, a chat with an airbnb host told us that they are looking forward to the developments in the area in the next 5-10 years. I think a medical center or hospital is going to be built soon in the area close to big box, I see land getting cleared, ready for more development. In general, still a new township, not as exciting as the more developed areas but that's what we like about it.
Many shops in Grid hub and 88 are still not occupied, one of the vendors told us shop owners are all trying to hold out for higher prices than rent it out.
First time I tried was in Melaka. Couldn't tell the difference, so I went back to their Singapore Fried Prawn Noodle/Hokkien Mee.Yup. I tried and felt the same.

Ooo... quite a while back already. Went out to Starbucks, looked around and all I could see was the petrol kiosk. When was the last time you were there ?

Mt austin rental is often easily 20k rm/mth. Things there wont be cheap 1JB problem, too many shophouse clusters everywhere, if high rent low footfall also die. Last time, most land own by plantation giant. Someone starts the idea of converting plantation to township. So, they started building housing then road. You can see this happening on the left side of JB after you clear CIQ. New housing builds out of nowhere. If project fail, the whole place become ghost town.Exactly, too much land, not enough people.
The way property (and land) being managed in JB is a very strange concept to me coming from Singapore but then, it is not Singapore I know. Lol Owners holding out rather than renting, development that takes 5-10 years to build traffic - feels like a lifetime to me.
I went to google and found out the entire Johor state has only 4m people (2023), and JB itself has only 1.7m ? Lol. So the entire state has less population than Singapore !
Pretty much explains everything. Lol

The hotel's nice. Nice friendly reception staff, nice room... Just that location-wise nothing much (back then) to stay more than a night, unless willing to Grab here and there.
KFC was there, IIRC. The one meal we'd other than in the hotel, was at The Chicken Rice Shop near Mr DIY...oh so even KFC wasn't there at that time ?
The petrol kiosk very happening now as it has a great family mart - have hot food like oden, ban mian and other noodles too though no place to sit and eat.

Yeah, Pelangi also. Malaysia build shophouses faster than we build BTO.JB problem, too many shophouse clusters everywhere, if high rent low footfall also die.
