Crucial X10 Pro 4TB Portable SSD

This one is okay or not... about $353 from Amazon US.... what I need is stability.

I would rather get a 4TB SSD and pair with a 10 Gbps USB-C adapter.

I would suggest the SN850X or the Samsung 990 Evo currently at around S$330.

I already have Orico 20Gbps USB-C enclosure... but I scare NVME not compatible that is why my first choice is to look for a proper external SSD that is supposed to work out of the box, and the 2 enclosure I have I can just keep it for when I need to upgrade the NVME inside my PC then use lor.

That 20 Gbps enclosure is designed to work with an NVMe drive.

I know... but seeing how NVME SSD price is not going to save me much over a proper external SSD... why even bother right.. just save the enclosure for future use lor.

Anyway I still hoping for a day that it can drop below $300.... as I will mainly replacing my external HDD with it... one of my 5TB external WD_BLACK P10 recently got issues and preventing my PC from booting normally... so can considered it dead..

Samsung 990 4TB seems like a good buy now.
Just a reminder. I do NOT recommend anyone to buy the Samsung 990 Evo Plus.
This is the first time that Samsung has made the Evo series with a DRAM-less NVMe SSD.

So unless you are okay with a DRAM-less SSD, then go ahead.
Else, avoid the Samsung 990 Evo Plus.

The reviews were quite positive despite the 990 Evo+ being DRAM-less.

I prefer the SN850X but the 990 Evo+ does have the advantage of being cheaper.

100% works?

i think so, very fast updated, cant even see the progress bar. the hynix app can show many info of all my ssd drives.

I also realise my other phison controller ssd is down to 99% life with only 4.9TB lifetime writes, while this p41 OS drive still 100% at 18 TBW....my other 3 years old silicon motion storage ssd still 100% with 8 TBW.

my last phison controller ssd had to rma with corsair...

The SMART SSD life % is quite meaningless. It is calculated based on an algorithm that includes TBW, which is a number specified by the manufacturer. Practically, most SSDs survive well past the TBW.
