I click dinobu mukbang beedios also not clicking this.

So many KPKB dun wanna click, so here's the Video Overview
Conflicting Viewpoints on Leasehold Property Value
One group of viewers felt Mr Loo's points were obvious: 99-year leasehold properties will eventually return to zero value upon lease expiry. They criticized the video as stating the obvious and questioned Mr Loo's intelligence. Conversely, a significant number of viewers disagreed, believing that property prices will continue to rise and that the government will intervene through SERS (Selective En bloc Redevelopment Scheme) or lease extensions.
Government's Stance and Public Misinterpretations
Mr Loo cites Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's statement that all 99-year leasehold properties, including HDB flats, must be returned to the state upon lease expiry. He emphasizes that while the land retains value for the government, the property's value will go to zero for the owner. Despite this clarification, many viewers misunderstood or dismissed this statement, clinging to beliefs in continued price appreciation, government intervention, and lease extensions. Some even labeled the Prime Minister's statement as fake news.
Arguments for and Against Value Depreciation
Those who believed in continued price appreciation cited factors like scarcity of land, increasing labor and material costs, and inflation. They argued that property, unlike stocks, has utility value and will always be needed. Conversely, Mr Loo countered that the 99-year lease presents a significant risk that many people ignore, leading to potentially poor investment decisions. He provided examples from independent articles supporting the claim that property value significantly depreciates as the lease nears expiry.
Mr Loo's Conclusion and Upcoming Series
Mr Loo acknowledges the emotional nature of the topic and the difficulty of changing deeply held beliefs. He advocates for diversification of investments to mitigate risk and stresses the importance of financial awareness. Mr Loo announces an upcoming three-part series with Mr. Dragon Tan, focusing on the 99-year lease issue and offering a more balanced and practical perspective. This series will eventually culminate in revealing a method for making a million dollars, a formula already utilized by over a hundred Singaporeans.
i thk the tricky situation is can these hdb structures last 99y.
if maintenance and structure all good and it can tahan then it will run to $0 and what the govt can do is offer you a priority bto / balance of units queue so these pple will never be homeless. this is a no goodwill situation but fair and square. so i think he's not wrong.
But if say the ppty at 75yo and hdb need to take back or if there is greater good of the land parcel, then SERS will happen but by then value will be much lower. in the end still need top up.
the former won't be free. still based on "fair market price". at most give priority onlyThese are pte properties. I can understand.
But there are like thousands of people n families affected each time the 99 years is up.
I am pretty sure relocation or extension of the HDB lease will be done. Otherwise they can kiss their Gov seats good bye
after 99yr it becum 0
this is not rocket science

yes. its also not rocket science that its polticial suicide to let some thing which normal earning citizens who paid few hundred thousand dollars for become 0.after 99yr it becum 0
this is not rocket science
Yah lor. He posted this before already. Milking views. Creating controversy. No quality.Yalor. Dont fall into his trap to increase viewership.
Reminder for sure. But I'm pretty sure it will come with an alternative proposalthere'll be very early reminder.. not like last minute then hdb telling u the lease is over.
Calculating if price is bargain or not based on 99 years is flawed.Yes which is why paying 800k or even 1m for 99 years is already a big bargain...
Yet there r still ppl complaining, even tho they wont even consider the only alternative.
those that buy with less then 30yr lease, once 99yr reach, you buy again just like thisyes. its also not rocket science that its polticial suicide to let some thing which normal earning citizens who paid few hundred thousand dollars for become 0.
they are like those flat earther. who believe the earth is Flatnot sure our degree or diploma has worsen or myopia gets higher.
simple terms also cannot understand.![]()
Yup, for it to not be 0, the government has to throw money in to rehome the inhabitants at a partial or fully subsidised rate. With tens of thousands of units going to 0 lease each year in the future, where is that money going to come from?after 99yr it becum 0
this is not rocket science
The govt has the final say. They wanna be iron fist or not its their call. Upon signing the 99y lease, u already got into contract. U cant argue to the govt to pay u back.nah, no political system can charge land tax again and again in perpetual on its people. People owned the land.
we're no exceptional
very good clear overall summary brothose that buy with less then 30yr lease, once 99yr reach, you buy again just like this

All the owners have found alternative housing, with some moving in with family members or purchasing new flats.
n an update yesterday, the SLA said one owner has successfully applied for a Build-To-Order (BTO) two-room flexi flat. Three other households have applied for flats in a Re-offer of Balance Flats exercise,
"It's good that the authorities have helped us, to make the process (of getting a new flat) simpler and faster," said Madam Lee, who has lived with her mother in Geylang for more than 50 years. Her daughter said they are paying over $80,000 for the flat.
Another long-time resident, crane operator Keh Hock Seng, 63, said that he has been offered the option to buy a flat, but would prefer to look for a rental flat as he has no children.
"I would prefer to save up the money for my retirement," said the divorcee.
so:
some moving in with family members? too old mean cannot get loan? or not enough money to buy a home so move in with family?
they are paying over $80,000 for the flat. 2 rm is about that price in 2020. so my guess she rent a short term lease from hdb
another no kids and 63, good to rental a flat, no point pay over 80k for a short term lease from hdb
FYI, senior ppl can get a short termlease from hdb instead of the usual 99yr
