I think no candidates will want to fork out the 14k deposit and join him. He will probably have to sponsor the 14k deposit for the 4 candidates if he wants them to join.
If he is willing to sponsor 14K for the other 4 candidates he can get hawkers, chefs or delivery drivers to contest with him

Dr Tambyah will be the SDP candidate for the Bukit Panjang Single Member Constituency (SMC).
Saw his engagement event with the BP residents last evening. He seems able to build quite a good rapport with the residents there. Hope he achieve the breakthrough this time. He is really quite a likeable candidate

We also hear of mosquito parties like Socialist Front and Democratic Progressive Party who said they want to contest Tanjong Pagar and Bishan Toa Payoh in the past but in the end MIA on nomination day, so I believe he is the same, as he definitely cannot get enough kumgong candidates who are willing to pay 14K and also enough assessors.
Socialist Front was set up by Chia Ti Lik who was once a WP member and left. Quite a strange fellow. He contested once under WP banner and left. Mentioned that he set up Socialist Front but did nothing and vanished from the scene

Main point is the current system, PAP holding around 90% of the seats are not ideal. Oppositions' voice just get drowned out as they lack the presence in parliament due to not having seats (1/3) to block bills.

The current FPTP system is obsolete now, most 1st world democratic countries except for US/UK typically have some form of proportional representation system in place.

No system is perfect, PR definitely have some flaws too but it is just that current system we have (With GRCs, etc. and all) that have made it lopsided in favor of the ruling incumbents.

1 party rule has never lead to positive results in the long turn. Cuba/Venezuela/Russia/China are good example of it.
Main issue is that majority of sinkies are politically apathetic. They dont know these terms like FPTP, gerrymandering

Got a feeling that the restaurant that he "owned" is his family business.
He displayed some hesitation about revealing his business during the walid interview even though he shared that he is brought up in some humble background.

whats the restaurant name

everyone is claiming to be humble when they have strong family background, strong financial backing, can afford to fail 10 20 or even 100 times in life and nothing will happen to them etc that kind...

Chia said he had contacted WP chief Pritam Singh for talks to avoid a multi-cornered fight in East Coast GRC, but has yet to receive a response.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

ya he should contact WP and tell them he will not contest to avoid a multi-cornered fight
Even if Pritam respond he will ask him to shut up and contest in a SMC when he have dont even have enough candidates to contest in a 5 men GRC

I saw this article saying pap will win comfortably in GE2025

Sibei jialat.

What a ignorant post.

Lose 1 grc also considered win comfortably. Lose 2 grc also considered win comfortably. Lose 4 grc, maybe lose 6 grc also considered win comfortably.

Use common sense to think. If pap loses 6 grc how will lawrence wong feel?

The sadder thing is opposition parties think they can win just by yelling "Reduce GST!" and all Singaporeans young and old will support them.
