how to minimise? I also installed polycarbonate roof for my MBR balcony... i gotta to admit its damn loud!

spend money.

if you don't need the light coming through the polycarbonate roof panels, then maybe can add another layer of rockwool then covered by calcium silicate panels to hide the rockwool. the rockwool should absorb the sound from the polycarbonate panels and also additional heat insulation as well.

My house's roofing system is multi-layered with rockwool sandwiched in between and I don't get the sound of rain hitting the metal roofing panels.

what kind of mechanism?
swing gate or sliding gate?
even for swing gate there's 2 types. one type is with swing arms and another type is with the mechanism inside the ground.

what do you mean by patchy?

see if there's any stickers on the motor or gate controller box on who was the original installer for the system and see if you can contact them for them to take a look. for all you know, what needs to be done could be just some greasing of the gears or such. these stuff need the specialist to take a look rather than just rely on general contractor's recommendations.

at the end of the day, if really need replacement, you would rather have an auto-gate specialist do it as well since they will know what compatible model can be used as replacement as you're not just replacing the motor but must make sure the replacement is suitable for the gate's weight/gear rack as well as can "talk" to the existing control module unless you also want to replace the control module.

cost wise should not be too expensive. 7 years ago when I enquired for quotations for install for sliding gate, the quotations I received was about $1.5k for the motor, control module, remote, gear rack, laying cable, etc. So replacement of just the motor shouldn't cost more than that even after accounting for inflation

If they suggest, do it la, it's variable, but ten is a very good run. If the waterproofing is poor, it will be even less.

looks like marble flooring? from the photo still looks ok for the finishing
nope, normal tiles. The quality of the build is poor esp the fittings and carpentry works. similar to the quality in billy bookcase from Ikea, that gives you an idea on how cheapo the developer is.

jialat, the facade of the 2 semi d is very ugly. the 41 43 signboard is equally ugly.

its like a commercial building.
QP is a senior who also does industrial buildings. no prizes from guessing where the inspiration for the facade came from.
