Kudos to you for being willing to step up as an independent (don't think many of us here will do it), but why are you focusing on BTC as part of your policy position?

I agree that we need to move away from pegging our SGD to USD given its a Fiat currency but why not peg to hard commodities like gold or even silver?

BTC is neither a good medium of exchange (network costs and latency) nor a good store of value (look at the volatility - it is more correlated to NASDAQ). It has the same utility as millions of other cryptos in the market (ie none). Just a speculative asset.

I'm not anti-crypto (I have a small position in BTC) but anyone suggesting to invest our reserves in a highly speculative asset doesn't seem prudent to me. Just my 2 cents.

One Bitcoin can be subdivided into 100m satoshis, and theoretically protocol can be amended further if there is consensus.

That’s the whole idea we do not want IOU otherwise it becomes paper bitcoin and the fiat system reappears. The beauty and revolutionary nature of bitcoin and blockchain is that all transactions on the bitcoin network are verified and recorded in an immutable public blockchain ledger.

yes if bitcoin is stolen in theory it can be traced (assuming you can identify the wallet address owner) as all transactions are recorded on the blockchain.. though I believe there are prob ways to mix the transactions in some protocols.
I agree. I read too that there is more paper gold around than physical gold.

But you can't keep subdividing the bitcoin without it's value also increasing because at the end of the day the payment for goods and service needs to match.

He spoke up on alot of issues & fought for them.

Think it shouldn't be an issue for him to win if going to a SMC
I think he’s too outspoken for the party leaders to accept, hence most likely he is stepping down and not contesting for the next GE

Not sure whether chatgpt calculate correctly or not. U all can try ask chatgpt buti must prompt chatgpt she was minister of state else the figure very different.

Chatgpt

Estimated Monthly Pension with Ministerial Roles

1. Minister of State (2010–2013):
Approx. S$660,000/year during that period (based on public data from the White Paper on Salaries 2012).

2. Senior Minister of State (2013–2025):
Approx. S$935,000/year, assuming she drew the full salary during her longest ministerial tenure.

Pension Formula (for those who joined pre-2011 reforms):

1/30 of highest annual salary × number of years served

Capped at 2/3 of the highest annual salary

Assuming:

15 years as ministerial-level officeholder (2010–2025),

Highest salary: S$935,000/year (SMS grade),

Then:

Max pension cap = 2/3 × S$935,000 = S$623,333/year

Estimated earned pension = 1/30 × S$935,000 × 24 years = S$748,000, but capped at S$623,333/year

Final Estimate:

Annual pension: ~S$623,333

Monthly pension: ~S$51,944

I dunno the specifics of the pension rules so not sure chatgpt calculate correctly or not. Chatgpt did give me many wrong answers before.

But if correct, she will be leeching 52k per month for life and doing absolutely nothing from daft sinkies.

They’re saving her the shame and dishonour of not being elected, after years of garnering high vote percentages.

Her garbage policies as “Eggmy” has landed her in a precarious state.
