I think ppl from healthcare who join politics really different...though for senior Consultants (Drs) a bit depends because nature of work, they do not need to really spend time with patients for all the nitty gritty (ask the junior medical drs, residents drs to do see their clinic). senior consultants also impatient and no time to talk and understand each patient.....he/she wants to know what the issue, pain how long, here are the options etc...

Saw Prof Tambyah before, nice dude, least he is a good 'prof' and doctor to me.
