Tampines Changkat SMC face off

WP’s Kenneth Foo’s nomination papers have been pinned on the noticeboard for Tampines Changkat SMC.

Mr Foo, who ran in East Coast GRC for WP in GE2020, is likely to face off against PAP’s Desmond Choo, who is a former Tampines GRC MP.

Mr Choo oversaw the Tampines Changkat ward before it was carved into an SMC. This won’t be Mr Choo’s first face-off with a WP candidate in an SMC. He lost the last two battles in Hougang.

WP’s potential candidate for Jalan Kayu SMC is…

After all the suspense, it is WP new face Andre Low who has filed his nomination papers to contest the single-seat ward. His papers have been put up on the notice board at the nomination centre.

The 34-year-old, one of the 14 potential candidates unveiled by the WP over the past week, will likely face PAP’s Ng Chee Meng.

Mr Low is currently a staff product manager in a global financial technology company, according to his LinkedIn profile. He graduated with first-class honours from the University College London’s law school, and has a master’s degree in business administration from Insead.

Mr Low joined the WP in 2020, and is a member of the party’s media team.

He previously served as a secretarial assistant to Sengkang GRC MP Louis Chua for over three years, supporting grassroots engagement, policy research and weekly Meet-The-People Sessions.

Mr Low said earlier that he is stepping up as he has seen firsthand how policies can impact real people and their lives, “and I want to give voice to those who struggle and do not feel like they can speak up for themselves”.

Nomination papers for the Workers’ Party’s Dennis Tan, the incumbent MP at Hougang SMC, have been put up on the notice board at Poi Ching School.

He probably has the most relaxed contest than all his peers at wp

PAP’s Jalan Besar GRC slate has been confirmed at Kong Hwa School. The line-up includes Ms Josephine Teo, Ms Denise Phua, Mr Wan Rizal and Mr Shawn Loh.

Over at Bendemeer Primary School, PAP’s Tanjong Pagar GRC line-up has also been confirmed. It will comprise Mr Chan Chun Sing, Mr Alvin Tan, Ms Joan Pereira, Mr Foo Ce Xiang and Ms Rachel Ong.

At Yusof Ishak Secondary School, PAP’s Sengkang GRC line-up will include Mr Lam Pin Min, Ms Theodora Lai, Mr Elmie Nekmat and Ms Bernadette Giam.
