they can’t please everyone. Some rather walkover than lousy parties, some rather have choice. But the amount it costs to run is no joke.

In a 1vs1 fight, no oppo will lose their deposit. Even at the height of lky death and tharman led Jurong GRC stronghold in 2015, a completely new party Singaporeans first can win 20%. For expenses/resources they are not adding on it, but simply shifting 1 oppo team from tampines to marine parade. Now WP themselves got their votes further diluted because of additional oppo in PPP

He could have taken a backseat, mentor behind the scenes and let a young candidate take his place. Having such an old candidate isn't appealing and won't pull even more voters in. Disclaimer I stay in WCJW and support PSP.

Aiyah, don't blame WP for the MP walkover. Maybe it is the reverse leh. WP initially thought MP GRC winnable cos TSL is there and is the bao jiak deadweight ally. But twist of faith, TSL got kicked out to CCK and news leaked out to WP. So they re-strategize and decided not worth to fight at MP GRC liao cos no TSL to help them dilute TPL popularity.

there is enough team to field the whole singapore.. Just move 1 little team in tampines to Mp can already.. They don't form an alliance it's okay.. at least make sure all constituency is contested.. this will have people want to oppose the incumbent at least have a choice to vote... and pull down the mandate.. PAP don't just scare of losing seats.. they are worry about losing mandate equally..
