The retirement of Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat may have left "big shoes to fill" in the People's Action Party's (PAP) East Coast GRC team, said Edwin Tong, who is anchor minister in its
#GE2025 bid to defend the constituency.
"But I think amongst us, the diversity of this team, we do have some big feet," Mr Tong said, citing the experience of his running mates, Tan Kiat How and Jessica Tan, as well as new faces Hazlina Abdul Halim and Dinesh Vasu Dash.
“We believe the freshness that we have, coupled with experience, and the diversity of life experience the five of us bring to the table ... will stand us in good stead,” he said.
Mr Tong, who is Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, was formally introducing his running mates in the hotly contested ward, where both the PAP and contesting Workers' Party's (WP) lineups were only made known on nomination day.
