chances are that the person will get swung off & lost his balance

my area there did just that, formerly a zebra crossing now a traffic light. rarely see people jaywalking cos it's mostly old people. there was a few incidents where a car just zip through while the pedestrian crossing was green.

These drivers are norm already.
