Yes. Still have the job with my friend.

But for this role in interviewed on Friday, the recruiter did hype me up a bit. Honestly, I didn’t have high expectations unlike with some of my previous interviews. Even though this role genuinely interests me, I also understand that if my career moves. meant to gain broader experience, and my recent break to care for my dad (without disclosing the toxic work environment for obvious reasons) aren’t enough to convince the hiring team, then there’s not much I can do. Just have to accept it and move on.

Nah, the concerts are in Singapore.

Looking back, I honestly don’t know how I managed to survive on my savings but somehow, I did. I really only spent on things I considered essential, like my gym membership and the occasional limited-edition hobby item. As for the "wants," I either put them on hold or just forgot about them. I cut down a lot on dining out, social gatherings, and entertainment.

I've already signed an offer, so anything else that comes along I will just play it by ear.

Yup. I actually verbally accepted but was waiting for the final contract to be up. Had already signed last week. But friend was holding and waiting for me if any success story with the other company.

Anyway, just got feedback from the recruiter. Apparently, the hiring manager was not fully convinced by my explanation for leaving my previous job, and felt the other shortlisted candidate could “do more.” Bit disappointing, especially since I did bring up during the interview if there was anything they wanted me to clarify, but she only mentioned the job-hopping concern and nothing else.

I get that hiring is subjective, and maybe they’d already leaned toward someone else. Still, it’s frustrating because I tried to be upfront and explained that I took a break for family reasons (didn’t mention the toxic workplace, obviously), and that my past moves were meant to gain exposure, not just jumping for the sake of it.

Hiring expect loyalty but the hiring manager herself has moved around too despite clarifying that her companies closed down, but no one asked her to justify it. Just feels like a one-sided judgment sometimes.

Anyway, moving on. Just thought shared my case. At least, I'm still be back on payroll and hopefully, grow in my career.

Treat it as early training for NS where NS medics (obviously not FP standard) machine gun your arm trying to draw blood.... :crazy:
wah. army time, I kena poked 5-6 times by the MO cause was having fever, until the doctor MO dulan and do it himself. kimochi to the max. :s34: why does it sounded so wrong.

Contradicting one.

Expect employees to be loyal but not the other way round.

If they really value you and feel you can offer good stuff to their company, job hopping is not that really an important criteria when evaluating this person suitable or not.

My last role I only worked 6 months. Current employer didn't really ask why.

i tend to encourage them to take from my wrist or back of hand when that happen

There was once the lokun wanna take from my foot and/or other places.Ignore my advice.in the end also take from my back of hand. becos i was already fasting for 20 hours. to get 10ml blood from me at that stage is near impossible (IV drip wasnt getting thru at the rate they wish)

Yeah… I think Heng just sway one. Some hiring managers do understand why people move around as long as the reasons are valid, but unfortunately, most don’t.

It’s ironic, especially when the hiring managers themselves have not stayed long in previous roles and have moved around too. For me, I did move around to gain exposure as explained to the hiring since always got rejected for a specific type of roles. And in my last role, my leaving was really a combination of needing to care for a parent and, honestly, a toxic work environment. But during interviews, you can’t expect me to openly badmouth a previous employer, right? That would just reflect badly on me.

To be fair, I have only ever left due to toxic culture twice and both stints were under 1.5 years. Funny thing is, both companies had acronyms ending with the same last 3 letters.

Can I ask how long was your longest stint with a company?

Usually can use your longest employment as justification that you are not a job hopper.

I will never trust any recruiter. But that's just me

Usually can use your longest employment as justification that you are not a job hopper.
4.5 years was my longest stint with one company.

For the role in interviewed last week, I was a bit surprised when the feedback came back saying the other shortlisted candidate could “do more” across broader topics especially since the recruiter had been hyping me up over those candidates as we do the same scope in previous place but I have broader exposure across topics and functions over those candidates.
