Did they keep asking u to sign on army for life ? U seemed like a v determined n persevering soul … if u are my age i will think aiya old alr don’t need to mk life so tough for myself … just do 80% good enuf alr why must mk 100% everyday ?
How old are you? As for myself I'm going to be 62 year young.

Yes, they did. My Training Officer and Manpower Officer talked to me about it 5 or 6 months prior my ROD. But I declined because I had other plans for myself after my ROD in 1983.

When I was young I was very very ambitious and usually I go all the way not halfway. But now I don't and I simply do what is necessary thats it. No more on the ball anymore about work matters and personal life matters. Good health, simplicity, low profile and contentment is happiness for me.

Thanks for sharing ! Wonder how it affects the locals n do they feel bad n bitter abt over tourism eg those in Venice or Japan or Spain since there are so much more % of overseas intl folks
The local Balinese welcome local or international tourists with open arms and warm heart. They know very well that without the tourists there are no jobs or extra revenues for them. They have no problems with International Tourists or foreigners settling down and open business or inter marriages with locals or retiring in Bali. Like I mentioned earlier there are many international foreigners inter marriage with locals there and foreigners retiring there especially the Aussies. You don't feel any prejudices and xenophobia on foreigners there.

Wow msia is quite pretty but their g only care abt fighting for themselves for more power , more seats , corruption… they tend to have good things inherently but underrepresented & often not as well maintained or well marketed relatively.
If u say Indonesia more beautiful then I must say they both hv many v scenic places that locals know and outsiders don’t and maybe they kept it a secret it’s always available… when they share with rest of the world , we go there n sometimes we ruin it 😖🥺😖
After I had a license and owned a car I did drive up Peninsula Malaysia from the East Coast then crossed over to the West Coast and then returned to Singapore. I did that no only once but many times with my former wife and my late parents too. East Coast of Peninsula Malaysia has beautiful white sand beaches compared to the West Coast. Then when crossed from the East to the West Coast there are plenty of scenic, placid and fabulous natural landscaping views like the local kampungs, mountains and lakes.

As for Indonesia there much more maybe because the land mass is very huge compare to Peninsula Malaysia.

Well, I've yet to visit Sabah and Sarawak often. I had been to Kota Kinabalu with my current wife once only. We spend our time about 2 nights only after we took a flight from Manila to Kota Kinabalu for transit then flew to Senai Airport and returned to our house in Skudai, JB. Well, I like the sceneries, ambience and the harmony of the locals there unlike in Peninsula Malaysia.

Everyone only knows Lombok v pretty 🤩 I hope to visit at least one or two of the places u shared above 🙏
You should and try to visit Lombok. Majority of the population are Muslims. Mataram the main town of Lombok is like Denpasar in Bali. As for their beaches Pantai Senggigi is not so crowded or developed like Kuta Beach in Bali. Well, I don't know about now that I spoke of was in 1992 to 1995. I had visited Lombok many times while I was in Bali. I like visiting Gili Trawangan though there are Gili Air and Gili Meno. Gili Trawangan off the coast of Lombok is bigger than Gili Air and Gili Meno. Tourists like to visit Gili Trawangan back then and I don't about now.

Usually when I visited Lombok I would drive and boarded a ferry with the car. The journey to cross from Bali at Padangbai ferry terminal to Lombok would take about 4 hrs. Along the ferry journey to Lombok you can witness many Dolphins swimming along side with the ferry. It was very amazing to see them swimming with their top fin surfacing and submerging as swim next to the ferry. Very exciting and nice moments to witness it.
