The problem comes, when a traditionally non DEI game convert to one due to mgt direction and all of a sudden, the past games history, lore all no longer make sense anymore. That's when non DEI fans starts to turn on DEI peeps and the company and leaving in droves.

I think if a really good game that comes with DEI content, people will still buy it.

At the end of the day, DEI could be an option for the player to customize the character but it shouldnt be like force it on the player. Most players still want to play characters that are cool, nice, cute looking
