Man, 38, in China allegedly pretended to be a woman & had sex with 1,691 men, footage uploaded online
It was not disclosed how or why so many men participated in the purported hook-ups.
Rumours that a 60-year-old man in the southern Chinese city of Nanjing had filmed himself having sex with as many as 1,691 men while pretending to be a woman, began circulating widely on Chinese social media recently.
The rumours further claimed that the man, who goes by the online pseudonym "南京阿红 (Nanjing Ah Hong)", had been uploading the intimate videos online, such as on Douyin (the Chinese equivalent of TikTok), for views and profit.
After the rumours gained attention online, the Nanjing police issued a
statement on Jul. 8, stating that the man, surnamed Jiao, had been arrested and detained.
While investigations revealed that Jiao had apparently filmed the intimate videos without the consent of the other men involved and had been spreading them online, the police clarified that the suspect is only 38 years old, and it was untrue that he had slept with as many as 1,691 men.
Screenshots of encounters
Although Jiao's social media accounts and the intimate videos he posted have been removed, several screenshots of his posts were still accessible on Weibo as of Jul. 10.
In some of the screenshots, Jiao was seen conducting a live-streaming session online while wearing makeup and a brown wig with bangs.
In other screenshots of Jiao's videos, he was seen meeting up with different men in a room equipped with a closet and a bed.
Besides donning a similar wig he wore during the live-streaming session, Jiao was also seen wearing a surgical mask, a long-sleeve top, and a half-body dress.
Some screenshots include a collage purportedly showing a few dozen men in the same room.
Others reminded Weibo users to check whether their boyfriends' and husbands' faces were captured in any of the screenshots circulating online.
