🗣️ Marc Cucurella: "When I arrived at Brighton, I was surprised that English players were aiming to play for Real Madrid and Barcelona, not Arsenal or Chelsea."

If they qualify for it, next season, Spurs will be favourites. 🤭

| NEW: Ivan Toney has echoed Cristiano Ronaldo in arguing that the Saudi Pro League is up there with the best leagues in the world.

Toney: “[Cristiano] Ronaldo has been around the world and probably knows a lot more than me as I have only played in the Premier League, the Championship, and Leagues One and Two.

For me, [the Saudi Pro League] is on a par with the Premier League. If [Al-Ahli] were in the Premier League, we’d give it a good go and we’d be close to the top four.

It is a quality league and people should not turn their noses up. We saw Al-Hilal play against Man City and beat them.

I was going to tweet, but I would have got killed back home so I kept my mouth shut. But people saw the quality of Hilal.”

Rio Ferdinand has explained why he was breathing a sigh of relief when he heard Andre Onana was leaving the club.

"I think [Omar [Berrada], who is running the football operations at the club, made the point that they're not going to have players sitting around that are not worthy of being at the football club anymore.

'They're not going to have players that either aren't good enough, haven't performed well enough or are not the right people to be at the football club.

'He's not going to have them around like bad smells. I think, for far too long, we've had that at the football club.

JFL:

Awkward moment on German TV: Bremen captain Marco Friedl swapped shirts with Frankfurt keeper (and former teammate) Michael Zetter after his side lost 1-4.

He gets asked by a reporter if he's happy with the win, answers: "I'm a Werder Bremen player in case you don't know".

"Chelsea FC is pleased to confirm that its engagement with The FA concerning matters that were self-reported by the club is now reaching a conclusion. "The Club’s ownership group completed its purchase of the club on 30 May 2022. During a thorough due diligence process prior to completion of the purchase, the ownership group became aware of potentially incomplete financial reporting concerning historical transactions and other potential breaches of FA rules. Immediately upon the completion of the purchase, the Club self-reported these matters to all relevant regulators, including The FA. "The Club has demonstrated unprecedented transparency during this process, including by giving comprehensive access to the Club’s files and historical data. We will continue working collaboratively with The FA to conclude this matter as swiftly as possible. We wish to place on record our gratitude to The FA for their engagement with the Club on this complex case, the focus of which has been on matters that took place over a decade ago."
