Everyday just clear ticket only

attend countless meeting, countless thing to follow up, no end on sight

deadline keep postpone and everything push to next release
then next release same thing again, then the chat group will have people tag your name

No career progression, no rest, every release just push push push

I was hoping a down period, but it seem consistently peak period for many months already

It's just a job. When there's tons of backlog, it just means that someone has done a shite job and you're kio-ing now.

Just go with the flow, else your life gonna be very miserable

Sound like very busy but waste of time
Tbt, I'm in a similar position, just that is within my firm. The quality of work from the outsource vendor are really cui.

An upper mgmt did tell me before, if they do a good job, next year they'll have lose their job. With this kind of mentality, you think is healthy? And to be fair, I do think that my mgmt will do this kind of stunt.

It's like that one loh. Your duty is to solve all IT and computer problems for the client. They pay a lot of money one, so u have to bear with it. Try your best. If can do, do; if cannot do, you say you have tried your best and need to escalate to Lenovo/Dell/HP engineer. Then you call the engineer. Always remember, you are not perfect, let someone come and help you. Also, organize your route efficiently. Always start with the top floor. Assuming you have 10 calls (or tickets) - let's say you are supporting a whole building (i.e. bank) - start with top floor, do finish every ticket on the top floor first, then move to next lower floor (do finish all users, make sure no need to come up again), then lower floor, one by one, etc.

Don't see it as a dead end. See it as an opportunity.
Blame the delay on the users because they changed their requirements. Then charge them more.
Your management will think you have potential and promote you to project manager, director and ...
How far it can go depends on how much you can squeeze from the customers.
Some customers have very deep pockets and are clueless. You should know who they are.
Have seen many such "success" in many IT consultancy firms.

i personally know a diploma friend who worked in IT support for 7 years. afterwards, took up multiple cloud computing certs and progressed to cloud engineer, then to lead role within 3–4 years. now doing program manager overseeing project managers.

moral of the story is to keep upgrading yourself. it will be a dead end if one lies flat and becomes obsolete.

You are still frontline staff. Doesn't matter whether you like to work alone or not. Simi lowly associate? Never see yourself like that.

Which app you are dealing with ?
Govt or private sector project ?

Build rs with the client then maybe at some point can join the customer side instead.
I started as a vendor in SI from L1 support pre covid period, fast forward 6 yrs now at GT.

vendor side seriously not much prospects.
principals then got hope.

but even the principals are on big time retrenchment now. a lot of hiring position advertised but at the same time, not willing to take in.

very the shibal tbh.

sorry. nowadays client side 泥菩萨过江自身难保 oredi.

unless u are c-suite or senior level can immediately translate to actionable results, KPI and P&L sheets from your industrial contacts alone, lower level hires across to client side have, but really rare.

You talking about pre sales or solution architect roles.

Surely have those working level roles like system administrator or project manager or domain lead or DBA type of roles else just continue to job hunt.

Product principal side can don't bother, minimally need 10 yrs exp.
