It's the police that thinks they banged, not that they she died while banging. He never say he did but at the same time, he doesn't seem to be denying it either. The only thing he denies is taking drugs and being "involved" (probably in the sense that he caused it) in her death.

His claim is that they were meeting in the hotel room to discuss a shoot, then later on she went to take a bath. She was taking quite a long time so he went to check on her, then he found her unconscious in the bathtub. He tried to resucitate her and did cpr on her but to no avail. He called the ambulance but apparently they took a long time (1 hour?) to arrive. That's roughly his version of what happened. But he never explained why he decided to just leave like that.

But if they took, then where's the drugs? If gone, means he tried to get rid. Another charge added of getting rid of evidence.
