Hello Peeps If use foreign credit card if the amount is exactly 200rmb will incur the 3% Surcharge?

or is it 200.01rmb then will incur the 3% surcharge?

If the bill is 800 to 1000rmb will merchants be open to charge multiple times e.g 4 or 5 so that we avoid the charge?

Thanks in advance!

RM200 no charge.

Wanna check with all the gor gors here who have ICBC China debit card account that is linked to China Mobile No. in Alipay...

How do you actually send money over to your ICBC China account while in Singapore?

I tried DBS Remit (via my China Mobile +86) but DBS kept saying i haven't link the card account into Alipay yet. It's already linked inside Alipay app leh.

Cause not a Chinese citizen, encountered this when trying to transfer from DBS to my Chinese accounts.
Don't seem to have a way to circumvent this as it's regulation, so kind of illogical since both are my own accounts.

DBS may only can remit to Account with China ID registered.

Reference:
https://www.dbs.com.sg/personal/support/iwov-resources/dbs_ps3revamp/docs/cnguide.pdf

For overseas funds transfers to a Chinese citizen in Mainland China, please ensure that you have all the following details of your intended recipient before you add them in. You only need to do this once per recipient.

1. Bank Name
2. Account Number
3. Recipient’s full name in English
4. Recipient’s full name in Chinese
5. Recipient’s National ID number 收款人的中国公民身份证号码
6. Recipient’s address
7. Recipient’s mobile number 收款人的手机号码

Please ensure the recipient details are as per the recipient’s bank records to ensure a successful transfer.

Note that DBS Remit CNY is solely for retail customers or individuals for the purpose of personal savings or household expenses only. It cannot be used to pay a business. All overseas funds transfer to Mainland China in CNY is subjected to the regulations of The State Administration of Foreign Exchange of the People's Republic of China. Each Mainland China recipient can receive funds up to a maximum of USD 50,000 equivalent per annum

Precisely, it's SG to China, both are under my own personal named accounts.
I understand if China wants to control outflow of RMB, but it's going in, not coming out... weird logic.

I had the same questions too, but no answers till now...
Otherwise, will be perfect liao, seamless cashless trips.

1) Main objective is to control outflow, but they also want to control inflow because of money laundering concerns.

https://www.dbs.com.sg/personal/support/bank-overseas-funds-transfer-service-standards.html
  • ** All overseas funds transfer to Mainland China is subjected to the regulations of The State Administration of Foreign Exchange of the People's Republic of China. Each Mainland China recipient can receive a maximum of USD 50,000 or equivalent per annum.
2) BTW, I may well be wrong, but I tend to believe the money sent into China to a Chinese Citizen can be sent later out of China by that individual, subject to some limitations.

Yeah, make sense that they cannot bring in "cleaned" money to flood the market.
So no complains just annoyed with this, should have workaround/options for such same name transfers to happen...

Unlikely possible to unlock since one is knowingly gaming the system.

Anyone can share your experience with using Alipay in China?

I have always been using Alipay for my taobao purchase and I realize I am able to “top up” my Alipay account.

Would I then be able to pay to street vendors using scan and pay?

I have read that Alipay account requires China mobile number and bank to create. But since I already have it from my taobao purchased in the past, would I be able to use it to pay cashless?
I can firmly say - not possible. Their govt very scared of rmb outflow from China, aka laundering. Both wechat n alipay cannot topups unless u have China bank account. Also, even for meituan discount purchases, u need to have a China mobile number.
