i can hike 3hrs with minimal rest. it's a bad idea for dates though unless you aren't really hiking. i will really go the distance, off track and she can get injured very easily

for difficult terrain, i use boots with metal spikes to prevent slipping on smooth slopes and a consequential waste of energy. when you are far away from civilization, alone in darkness and with limited food and water, you must conserve your energy and make every step count. every step must move you forward in the correct direction, safely and without injury. otherwise be prepared for disaster
