By dismantling electoral integrity and silencing dissent, Maduro stripped the Venezuelan people of their right to choose their leaders and hollowed out the country’s democratic institutions.
Maduro’s removal brings an end to an illegitimate regime that governed without a genuine mandate from the people. It creates a critical opportunity to restore constitutional governance, reestablish the rule of law, and hold truly free, transparent, and competitive elections .Democracy cannot exist without legitimacy, and Venezuela can now begin the long-overdue process of democratic renewal.
