Just got a SMS to change to 5G+ SIM. After changing can toggle 5G Standalone on iPhone now :)
Old news already, after change SIM card/eSIM + upgrade to iOS 26.1 and newer will have 5G SA and VoNR toggle option just that GOMO have yet to switch over to SA network.

@xiaofan GOMO auto upgrade existing customers plan to match the latest plan shown on their website. I think 10GB MITTA will be gone after the next bill cycle and replace with ASIA.

Got the SMS from GOMO, nothing being state about 5G SA

Hey Fam, you're in for a treat - your plan's getting boosted with upsized 5G+ data & roaming, at NO extra cost!

Enjoy 400GB 5G+, 800MINS & 800SMS, 10GB Asia Roaming (now to 18 destinations), 8GB Worldwide Roaming + extra 400GB MY Roaming!

This change will be reflected in your next bill cycle. No action is needed.

For questions, simply visit Zenmo to find out more. T&Cs Apply.

Just learned something new today about GOMO roaming.

I’m in Japan and noticed that suddenly I was unable to get any signal. Turns out that once you had exhausted your roaming data allowance, GOMO will cut off the signal. This means not able to receive incoming SMS as well.

Chatted with the CSO and they mentioned it was due to the shutdown of 3G network. Receiving SMS also needs data plan. Not sure how that works.

But this is quite a bummer given that there are use cases where one receives alerts from SMSes, e.g. OTP, usage alerts, banks. Moreover other providers can just cut off data (such as eight) but maintain signal for receiving SMS even after exhausting the roaming data allowance.

Don’t understand how GOMO thinks when offering their products…

My fiancee experienced the same issue when we were at Taiwan last December.

Chatted with GOMO Chat Support and they credited free 1GB Worldwide Roaming out of goodwill. Thereafter, the reception came back.

You used a lot of data in Japan, total of 18GB / 22GB from 5G+ Value or Core plan still not enough 🤣

M1 Maxx same behavior, the excuse the CSO gave you is just nonsense just to get you off the chat.

5G SA for Gomo is officially live

Finally! Seem like most telcos can meet the IMDA requirement to switch fully to 5G SA by end of March.

@xiaofan you might want to compile and do a table on the other thread to list down each MNO and MVNO 5G SA status so the question won't keep popping out is xxx on 5G SA already....
