Guys, need some advice. I am planning another Japan trip in Nov. This time, I am spending 2 weeks there.
Does it make sense to split my trip into 3 cities, Tokyo - Kyoto - Osaka, in that order? How many days is enough in Kyoto for a first-time visitor? Thanks!
2 weeks will be good to cover the 3 cities, not so rushed imho

Oh that is nice. Just now I asked Gemini, about Sony earbuds Sony WH-1000XM6

Singapore Price (MSRP): $649
Japan (tax free): S$485 (¥54,000)

Asics also look interesting to buy. Im used to Kayano series for running.

Thank you

Japan is a very good place to buy high end asics super running shoes .

For example . Megablast . SG $349 . Japan price 27500 yen. After tax reduction is about SG$200++

Superblast 3 SG $319 , Japan price 26400 yen. After tax reduction is less than $200.

Metaspeed Tokyo $379 . Japan price 29700 yen . After tax reduction is around $230.

Of coz . If u want a casual jogger . I also won't expect you to spend so much for a shoe. But for a regular runner like me. Very worth it.

thank you. I need a very specific running shoes as i have flat feet. So far for all the running shoes brand, only Kayano is the most comfortable for me.

Any idea if there are any other models, other than Kayano series, any other series suitable for flat feet? I probably also need one casual shoes, for walking, shopping and outdoors, currently i'm relying on Sketchers.

thanks. For the tax refunds, do they do it directly at the shop? Did you check if Sony headphones also cheaper than SG? Thanks
Yup, they did the tax refund at the cashier at BIC Camera Osaka store. But MUST show your physical passport. I always bring it along if I know I'm going shopping that day.
I never go to the Sony section. Went straight to the Apple section.

As a flatfoot. U need stability shoe. U can forget those shoes I mentioned and yes. Kayano is the right shoe for you.

I suggest u can try to take a look at adidas evo SL or NB 1080.

I visited Kyoto on a day trip from Osaka. It is possible but perhaps 2 days would be more adequate for the sights within the city proper.

Some hotels in Japan dun have safe in the room, so I just bring it along on me. Japan is pretty safe.
But in Bangkok, I usually leave it in the hotel safe when I go out at night,

One is supposed to be carrying your passport at all times. Japan police does random checks. A friend has been approached quite a few times at Shibuya Scramble despite he’s a resident.

Yah, I got police checked twice long time ago. One time by a plain clothes police.

Spring is here, means flu season is coming. I remember last year it was pretty bad in Japan.

I'm going to take my flu vaccine tomorrow, nurses say this one i'm taking tomorrow is the latest new strain. Going to jab tomorrow, 2 weeks before my trip to make sure it takes effect.

Does anyone here get the flu vaccine before travelling? Anything i need to take note of (health) when travelling to japan?

I take flu jab annually. Can let us know if the one you take tomorrow is northern or southern hemisphere variant ?

Last month, when I was at the polyclinic, they didn't allow me to take it earlier; my next annual flu jab is scheduled for May 2026.

I tried my luck today and called the polyclinic to ask if i can take the jab earlier as i'm travelling soon. After some checking, the operator say it's the new jab. But i didn't ask if its the northern or southern.

Tomorrow let you all know what variant is that. The box will say one?

Took mine in December. In Tokyo now. It's spring meaning pollen season. If sensitive be prepared.
