The sweltering heat of the Secondary One orientation camp, the oversized school PE t-shirts, and the awkward ice-breaker games set the stage for what I thought would be an ordinary week. We were scrambling to form a five-person team for a camp activity when my friend impulsively waved two girls over to join our group of three guys. The moment she walked over, nervously adjusting her name tag and offering a shy smile, the chaotic noise of the school hall completely faded away. That was my true 一见钟情. At thirteen years old, I never expected that a fleeting introduction would carve out such a permanent space in my mind.

But as all tragic coming-of-age stories go, we fell comfortably into the friend zone. We survived O-Levels together, spent countless late nights talking on MSN Messenger, and shared everything about our lives. Yet, whenever the topic of romance came up, she would laugh and explicitly tell me that she could never, ever imagine the two of us being together. I took the hint and buried my feelings. It was only years later, long after I had moved on and gotten attached, that the other girl from our camp group dropped a crushing secret: she had actually been waiting the entire time for me to make the first move, but her pride and my absolute teenage blindness kept us apart.

Fast forward many years into adulthood. The school uniforms were replaced by office lanyards, and though we occasionally kept in touch, our lives had largely diverged. She was still fiercely single, while I was in a stable, long-term relationship. Out of the blue, she called me one evening and asked me out for dinner. I assumed it was just a casual catch-up to complain about work, but the moment she sat down, the atmosphere shifted. Her eyes were hollow, red, and exhausted. Across a quiet table in a dimly lit restaurant, her voice broke as she told me she had just been diagnosed with late-stage cancer. Tears streamed down her face as she reached across the table, confessing that her absolute biggest regret in life was letting her stubbornness win, and never getting the chance to be mine.

The air in the restaurant felt incredibly heavy, and my heart pounded against my ribs. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone, the screen instantly lighting up to show the smiling wallpaper of my current girlfriend. I took a deep breath, looked her dead in the eye, and told her... sorry to waste your time reading this massive WOT, because this entire drama is pure CSB nonsense =)
You’re positive man how come come out with such a negative scenario? 😐

There was this girl in my Primary 3 class named Isabel. Or Isabelle. I can't remember now.

I kinda remember she seemed to have taken a liking to me. She would always try to sit with me, talk to me... and play with my water bottle. I think my glasses too.

It was rare to see any young in glasses those days. Yeah, it's that long ago.

She even asked our form teacher if she could sit beside me in class, but was rejected.

It felt a little weird for me at that time... even intimidating. I guess it is because I already liked her and found her really pretty.

But it turns out, I have an inferiority complex, and it just did not seem possible that a girl (or anyone) could like me. I had no experience talking with girls, and especially awkward when it was someone so pretty... So, mentally, I just rejected everything. I had an invisible wall that shut almost everyone out. So even if we did talk, it was cordial and superficial.

Anyway, my results slipped, and I went to a different class in Primary 5. She stayed in grade 2 class while I went to grade 3. Eventually, I dropped to grade 5 (the last class) in Primary 6. Naturally, we drifted apart.

We never spoke to each other again.

The last I knew of her was from the final school newsletter before PSLE, which published a short segment on musical achievements - She had a perfect score of 99 in... piano. I think.

Every once in a while, I do kinda wonder how she is doing in life now.

Well, it sure was nice knowing you. All the best in life, Isabel Li!

I remember that when I was in Primary 6, donkey's years ago, my classmates and I went out for a gathering and watched a movie together before we each went our separate ways to secondary school.

There was this girl, whom I'll call "C".
Thinking back, I suspected she had a crush on me because she would always stare at me in a funny manner and looked away immediately whenever I caught her looking at me.

Long story short, it started to rain just as we were leaving the cinema. We were caught in the rain while walking towards the bus stop. "C" actually had an umbrella and ran towards me, taking my hand and sharing her umbrella with me to shield me from the drizzle.

Upon seeing this, the boys in my class started wolf-whistling and laughing. Feeling embarrassed and shameful, I actually pulled my hand away from C's and started running towards the bus stop.

We didn't really talk after that, and I never found out which secondary school she went to. We could have been together if I didn't react the way I did back then.

I still feel bad about what happened, even after so many decades. I wish I had been more sensitive back then, as I must have hurt her feelings.

I wonder if she's still alive today.

My 一见钟情 way before even primary school. Remember was around 4 to 5 years old, there was this don't know relative or parent friend came and brought along their daughter who around same age as me. When we first see each other we start holding each other hands and walk to nearby place sat down and began chit chat. Funny thing is till today just couldn't recall what was our conversation.

Got 2 boys in P2 that are my friends. Both are cute and good looking. I think both like me. 1 always disturb me and fight me (A), 1 is the super nice gentle caring type (B).

3 of us are good friends. A like to always disturb me and quarrel with me and make me laugh, while B will be scolding A don't so mean and let me copy his homework.

Those were the sweet and innocent time.

Then P3 I was arranged to sit besides B. That how we got closer. While A is further from me. And P2 he was still daringly teasing me by P3 he became super shy and face will blush the moment I go near him. So cute omg.

I liked both. I think both are cute.
