Hi guys,
Just gotten my cable tv today.

Got a few questions since this is my first time getting cable tv.

1)How do the HD set top box update its firmware? Do I need to connect an ethernet cable to it?

2)When I press record to record a show, it says "Recording database is not initialised yet, please retry later". Do I have to call starhub or is there anything I can do to fix it? I did power down and power up the set top box, but the problem still happens.

r u using hubstation? as u said "HD set top box" it's assumed that u r using HD Interactive set top box instead... only hubstation can record.
if u r using hubstation, press the "Smart TV" button to access menu, then press "Recording Schedule" to see if u really got database error.
normally cut off the power supply i.e. unplug and replug power adapter, wait for firmware to reboot and wait another 30 secs (after the lag period)... then try again.
if problem persists, then maybe it's hardisk or device problem.

should be able to swap at starhub shop.
delivery will need to pay transportation fees.
but the rental per month is much more expensive.

Hi Guys,

Am having some issues with my Hubstation HD for HD5 channel.
For some reason, the audio will stop and restart on occasion. This issue doesn't really come up with the other HD channels I have (i.e. Natgeo Wild)

Anyone else with similar experience?

Thanks

Yeap same here - although I'm not sure if it happens only to HD5 recordings.

New Hubstation HD box

Dear all,

Since i am the one who started this thread, I would like to provide an update to the issues that I had raised years ago.

I have since changed to the new Hubstation HD box (smaller size than the previous one) a week ago. Same design but the new one has a USB slot infront and two ethernet ports behind.

The remote control issue though not as bad as the previous one, i.e. the numbers will jump by itself (too sensitive), but it is still there.

I am still monitoring if the schedule recording would miss when I left the box on without turning it off.

So will keep you guys updated.

Thanks.

If you request for a change, most of the time, the CSO would tell you to bring down to exchange. If you have ever log a case, just tell them that the problems were not resolved and therefore you want a change to the new box and to be delivered by them. remember to remind them again that you want the new box.

The solution is in the settings. Go to General Settings using yr hubstation remote control. Find "Audio" then de-select "Dolby". Not every channel has dolby support. Once you uncheck it, the sound would return.

Hi, I just saw this thread.

I had this similar problem for about 1.5 years, where the remote control is either overly sensitive or insensitive. When the channel up key is pressed, it'll activate one of the numeric buttons or I can keep trying to change channels while the setup box doesn't respond at all.

I called up starhub and they simply asked me to change the remote. I had changed my remote twice, with the latest last weekend for a brand new remote, but the still persist.

Really fed-up with the whole experience.

Change to the new hubstation, it works better.

Just upgraded from hubstation to hubstation HD.

Now when i change volume using the remote, the blue bar moves on-screen but the volume remains the same, any ideas?

Channel 100 - 108 will not have effect when you adjust the volume from SH Remote control...

Other channels should have effect... Mine works this way... :s22::s22:
