Flashget download speed even slower than IDM. Right now I'm trying to download mediafire links with multi threads so the download would be faster.

Today we took out the plugs for the 2wire modem and the ONT to rearrange our wiring. Plug them back in, the PON light of the ONT won't light up and the Service light for the 2wire is just red. We've ensured everything is plugged back correctly but I haven't had internet for the whole afternoon. What could be wrong.. Just want a relaxing day at home after work but now..

Fibre optic cables are very delicate. Hope you didnt damage the core.

Downloading Battlefield 3 Beta. Speed is consistent at 2.5 - 2.6 MB/s. On Singnet Fibre 200 Mbps.

Anyone experiencing this issue that downloads on torrents are averaging 1.5-2MB/s while uploads on torrents are averaging 4MB/s? My uploads sometimes would go up to 5.5MB/s

Same issue here. I am hitting only 1.6 MB/s (Max). I am on eXplore Home using wireless. Best way to test is to dl ubuntu ISO.

Lonely, what did you download?

Here is what I did:
1. download 2 ubuntu torrents.
2. start 1 torrent see the max speed
3. start the 2nd torrent and see the total download speed

For both steps 1 & 2, I am hitting a combined speed of only 1.6MB/s on uTorrent. On speedtest, my wireless can hit about 28mbps, which is around 3.5 MB/s. I am getting less than half the actual speed on torrent. I believe more tweaks are needed. I have tried the following tweaks:
1. Disable / enable uPnP
2. Disable / enable port forwarding
3. Disable / enable UPnP port mapping on uTorrent
4. Changing port on uTorrent
5. Checking / unchecking legacy connections on uTorrent
6. Forced Encryption

All of the above did not make any difference. I am not sure if the ISPs have a way to actually limit torrent traffic.

Hope you guys can share your tweaks!

Well, in the evening my speed already hit 300KB/s for downloads until midnight.

Anyway, tried the ubuntu iso, for 32 and 64 bits. One torrent works out about up to 1.6-1.8MB/s while both torrents work out to about 2.2MB/s. This is at 1.45am.

My download now is telling me I have 8.5GB downloaded, 64.5GB uploaded, so much different compared to using ADSL in the past LOLX

Anyway, the cutoff point I believe is at 2am, where they restore the speed from 300KB/s to just over 3MB/s in the space of 5mins+/- (e.g. from 2am to 2.05am speed jumped from 300Kb/s to 1MB/s, then 3MB/s gradually)

I have a picture of rationing so that the cost of broadband can stay the same while the number of subscribers can increase significantly. ===> Maximise PROFIT!!!!

Yea probably they removed the restrictions after 2.

Another analogy. During peak hours, when there are many commuters, there will be more mrt provided to ease the human traffic jam. It is not possible to reduce human traffic. But during peak hours, you can restrict the broadband of each subscriber so that everyone has the comfort of bearable bandwidth. On the other hand, you can also use the mrt concept of increasing the bandwidth of each subscriber. Then the cost of bandwidth would go up i.e. isp pay more for international bandwidth, and the company has to bear the cost. Then, there are two options: either increase the subscription fee or reduce the earning of the isp. Other considerable alternative might be gahment subsidy to help isp pay more bandwidth.

At work, I'm currently on Singtel Fibre Business and I'm pinging over 50ms to a local server hosted by softlayer in Singapore.

Anyone else getting high pings on Singtel to this local server?

Not only Happening to fibre users. I'm on adsl and also experiencing such bandwidth cap issue. I just sign up for a limited deal explore home 100 at 69.90 instead of the usual. Now dunno worth or not with all this qos.

When did you sign up? I thought the eXplore home is at 79.90?

Try getting Singtel to look into it, since you are on business fibre? The node that first shows the high ping time supposedly belongs to Singtel's Tampines exchange.

Been checking with others and they're getting the same issue. I think softlayer itself has peering issues. They're relatively new in the SG market so I think they need to iron out these small issues.
