The Huawei MediaPad, 3G 7" tablet, now in Singapore!

just got the tablet yesterday with singtel (from the $11 promotion LOL)

i like the form factor (7 inch) though i think it is abit thick..

the screen resolution is suprising sharp but the touch screen is quite wonky....delete widgets from home screen will take some effort due to the touch & hold gesture 'wonkiness'...


also, the software isn't very optimised very well as performance is quite bad and there were a couple of reboots and weird SD-card anamolies....

overall, this is definitely not a high-end and refined tablet...

but with a china brand name like huawei and a $11 price tag (for me anyway)....guess it is within my expectation..

but with price without contract ($400+ or so i've heard) is completely bogus....u might as well order online from barnes and nobles and get a nook tablet....

my 2 cents.

Most USB charger is 0.5mA, the Mediapad is 2A charger.

Ok, this is what I found. After each time i unplug the adapter (pin head) from the mediapad and switch off the pad, the battery low warning message seems to appear the next moment I switch on the media pad. I used a USB cable with the other end fitted with the correct size male pin to charge the media pad. All these times, my media pad was not fully charge. Not sure whether this has something to do with the OS. Next time, I will do a full charge to see if this happens again.

With the latest firmware, seems to be slightly more responsive. Of course it could be due to other apps running in the background hogging resources. Hopefully not poor hardware implementation if not hope ICS can resolve this.

compose new message,u will see the (To)then type the phone number.

I couldn't really locate the option menu where the "compose new message " is. what i did now is delete the phone number after i choose one from a contact and type in any number i want.

Anyway, thanks a lot for taking time to reply.

How blurr I am. All the while I was not using the message app. Was sending message thru the contact and phone apps.

guys, why does the mediapad unable to scan for emails when the screen is off and in standby mode. the moment i on the screen then i see the email notification on the bottom followed my email ringtones.

if i did not power on the screen, then i will never by notified of new incoming emails?

any way to solve this problem?
