just called singtel.. cannot decide.
got offered the SGD 23+ for 10mbps for 12 months. No phone rebate. phone bill is around 27+ for 3 months. so works out to be 32.16

between M1 100mbps @ 39 with free phone line (anyone verify if there's free phone line), one time installation of SGD 58. i think i want to try M1 but the TORRENT Sucks

got to buy new router, USB receiver for wifi, else pull a super long cable to the room. (what is the cheapest way on hardware to get the 100 mbps)

what do you guys think?

M1 torrent seems very bad.
u buy 100mbps get all the hardware
pay installation, change this change that, pay more per month. and in the end - frustration??? WTH right? i likely stick to SNBB

I did some research also regarding router and I'm going to exchange at M1 IMM today for E4200. Close my eye and just buy the higher end. If not, buy E1200 then, don't want to cry for it. And, iPad? I managed to get it from Best Denki (Infinity) which is one 2nd floor of IMM. Luckily, it was last pieces. If I couldn't get there, think I'll keep searching till midnight. Hahaha..

I would say for P2P, it much depends on how many seeds you can connect and the seeds' upload speed which you are connected to.

I think my HG256 got VoIP problem leh, my home phone stop functioning after awhile and need to reboot the HG256 frequently for the VoIp to work Is it a known issue?? AhWise got any idea?

The second file is for Ubuntu ISO so there's tons of seeds so it's suppose to be fast.

Never encountered disconnection issue with my M1 100Mbps since day 1.
I don't understand what's with the big hoo-ha, I am getting a average of 50Mbps via speedtest but I am not complaining since I am on WIFI and paying 42$/month for internet+voice.

The HG256 is better than my old white 2WIRE wireless router by a notch.

It can handle 4 machines running p2p application at once and only resulted in my WLM disconnecting when there's too many concurrent connections, however, web surfing still works fine.

Previously I was on Singnet 6Mbps
My old 2WIRE on the other hand comes with the crappy firmware with broken DNS, it's easily fixed by setting the DNS on the local machine but the wireless router cripples the entire network when there's too many concurrent connections caused by p2p application. Not to mention that it takes at least 5 minutes to establish internet connection when the wireless router first boot up.
To be fair, it works just fine if I link it up with my old Prolink ADSL modem and WRT54G.

So what if I am only getting 50Mbps when I signed up for 100Mbps?
Look around how much other ISP are charging for their 50MBps and how much you are paying for yours.

If you can afford to pay more then by all means sign up for Singnet, MaxOnline, SuperInternet or My Republic.

Singnet has always been reliable enough with their network other than a once in a blue moon breakdown, provided you got the right hardware for the right usage pattern.
