lawl just got back home, heard from a friend Taiwan just went into lockdown due to typhoon. Hope you guys bought insurance, no point flying over when its raining everywhere.

i saw an article that it made landfall at hualien.. :s11:

Yupx..

The storm made landfall near the eastern coastal city of Hualien just before daybreak, before veering northward and hugging the coast. It was expected to pass near the northern port city of Keelung and skirt the Taipei suburbs by midday.

And seems like heavy rainfall will continue throughout the weekend due to the slow moving speed of the typhoon..

Hope the damage is minimal. >.<!

i read up about typhoon and they say once a typhoon hits land it will weaken by quite abit. so saola is getting weak which should be a good thing i hope?

Rightfully yes..But Saola is just gonna go around on the outskirts of Taiwan..Bringing it up to Keelung before moving to China..

It's not gonna move directly across on land..

It still Raining very heavy over here at sun moon lake and I m still struck at hotel! Cannot go hualien alr :( and I hope nothing happen in taipei.

Appreciate All Suggestions 8 Days to Taipei

Hi,

We are a couple in our early 50's and this trip is meant to show my appreciation to my wifefy for the years of putting up with my idiosyncrasies and a long overdue honeymoon as we could not afford one when we got married.:o

This will be our first trip to Taipei and greatly appreciate all suggestions for our itinerary.

I guess other then the cool experience, we really wish to try out the hot springs and for me heard so much about gold panning so die die wish to try my luck :D

I know it's a tat early but I suffer from extreme kiasuism hence wish to be able to plan and firm up the itinerary and put it aside till our holiday.

For Typhoon, it is classified under natural disaster , hence, even if you have bought insurance, you will not be covered if i am not wrong.

Current Situation:
- Typhoon Saola has made landfall over Taiwan as a category 2 storm
- The main strength of the storm was felt last night
- Storm is expected to remain over Taiwan until the early hours of Friday morning with possible movement back towards Taipei
- Markets, schools and businesses will remain closed until further notice from the Taiwanese Government
- Risk of major city disruption is low as Government are heavily engaged with planning and recovery
- Travel disruption/congestion was felt during rush hour last night but no other issues reported.
