my wifi connection had issues with whatsapp, catch note etc. I can't say that wifi doesn't work, since i can surf, receive email (push notified), and other regular things. but it just doesn't feel right, as if it takes many tries to reach the server, even google play.

but it gets slightly better as it goes along, not AS retarded. I wrote to Sony about the wifi issue and was advised to do a REPAIR. seems like repair option is always advised for all other xperias as well. even my friend's arc S was horrible after ICS update, but got better after the repair.

I had problems updating to ICS, the phone restarted, and the next thing I know is the PC companion says 'Phone not detected'. Tried countless times with different cables, different Mac, still the same. Quite frustrated with the process...

Google for sony update service. Download, install and update from it.

i've upgraded, sg phone. i took a long time in upgrading as the vol down plugging in instruction doesn't get any respond using PCC or SUS. i realised after googling for solutions that the firewall is the obstacle, so i disabled it and the upgrade went on smoothly.

i think SUS is easier to use. search on sony's website and download that?

try disable your firewall temporarily and repeat the process.

Apologies, should be pull mail.

Repair meaning at PC companion, even though it states that your phone is up to date, you still choose to update and it'll give you an option to repair. by repairing, it'll wipe out your data so you'll need to do a backup first.

After repairing (and a hard factory reset to attempt to solve my wifi problem), the lag is significantly better. but i'm still having problem with connections to wifi...

Thanks for the tips, I've managed to download and updated my Xperia Go to ICS. Not really a whole lot of difference... I'm not a heavy user, just using the phone for messaging, calls, occasional browsing while waiting for time to pass.... etc.. so to me, the lag is minimal, something I can live with. Having said that, unless you are the type who wants the latest and the bestest, there is no need to upgrade the Xperia Go to ICS, Ginger Bread works better on the Xperia Go.

WiFi is ok for me...using an old Singtel 2wire router at home. However my battery can't get a 100% charge even after charging it for hours...

Ya some phones GB is actually smoother on them as opposed to ICS. Like the neo v, some of the users complained a huge lag after updating to ICS. Latest update is not always better in this case.

anyone tried repair function? mine fully charge at night, morning it died flat...:(

Seem to have overheating problem too, worry will explode:s22: Hence,Batt shorter lifespan.:(

i've tried repair function. i think the lagging gets better. but it was a hassle to get back my apps... it doesnt' auto restore the apps? i have to install back one by one, then restore my data to get all the settings back.

as for overheating and battery problem you had, i suspect it's an app that is the culprit cos i've encountered that once when i was on gingerbread too. reboot it to clear the apps or install a task manager and monitor further i guess.

wireless issue shd be fine with old routers if it's only on b+g? i set my router to that and sacrificing the use of N band while trying to search for a solution. wireless is ok for now, but shd not be the long term solution.

i seconed guru teh 000 comment
moster older or even newer phone with subpar specs its still better dont go ics eve nit say its upgradeable

first check your andriod is dualcore at least
and 1gb ram
this is the SOP standard
if u upgraded then u lan lan got to accept it
but there is a way to undo it u can find the rom and flash back but it might backfire
so take note lor

if the phone specs is only accept B and G u got no option one
just set your router to broadcast only those 2 lor
only newer phone or maybe mid to highend might acept 11n network
and even dualbands

which belong to 11a standard

even new laptop like asus zenbook i recall someone complains on network hwz section why cant detect 5ghz when its not a old laptop but its in fact the manufactuorer dont incoprate it in the end

In my wife's case after update to ics, shows improved battery life and not much lag compared to when on ginger bread. But the wifi problem is irritating
