using xm2 now. very satisfied with the comfort and noise level. grip seems to be good (have not tried e-brake and dun really want to be in the position to do it). wet grip.... i think can't compare with my previous ps3 (xm2 tends to slip more easily during turning after ramp in a wet mscp). but overall i think you won't go wrong with michelins. gr90 should be good too but i think pricing is (too) premium for a comfort tyre.

May I ask how much you got your XM2 for ? what's your rim size ?

btw according to TS list, anyone knows which one is most bang for the buck

Using Advan DB now and I'd say this is a good set of tyres in terms of noise level and grip. It's so much better than my previous Earth-1.

I've not tried the CC5, but I'd say Continentals are worth looking into more than most others. Another that comes up a lot in car forums is Hankook V12 Evo. But take note that the local Hankook distributor has been very aggressive in promoting the brand in online car forums, so some of the reviews should be taken with a pinch of salt.

I'm quite anti-Yokohama, unless anyone can convince me that their wet grip has very drastic improvements, I'll never touch them.

GR90 rides on the reputation of its predecessor the GR80 as a very quiet comfort tyre, but I've read that the GR90 is slightly louder. Some local car owners have noted that Bridgestone tyres are generally heavier than their competitors' equivalents. Personally I've scratched out Bridgestone from my tyre choices since then.

I'm currently on PS3s BTW :s34:

:On Turanza GR90 , good grip on wet condition. very quiet too compared to AR15. made in japan.

These tyres are highly recommended by a lot of drivers.

Answers of some reputable tyre shops :

All tyres listed fall under the comfort range. The least road noise and most comfortable would be a tie between the Michelin XM2 and Continental CC5. However in terms of price, the XM2, GR90 and Advan dB are much more expensive as compared to the CC5. The GR90 most likely has the best grip among the rest but also wears out pretty fast. We would recommend the CC5 as the best value-for-money.

Best Regards,

185/65/15 CCC5 tyres are around 125 per piece...

CCC5 what i understand from the tyre shop is that it made in malaysia and tyre is uneven, much balancing required to counter-balance on the wheel.
consider CPC5 over CCC5..

Haha, i had a personal encounter while on Yoko ES501 on a rainy day, back in the days when i take noise level seriously. Now grip matters more, and i've learned - no noise means no grip
Yoko need to provide a guarantee on their grip issues if they want me back.

I've also been on 2 sets of Hankook V12 EVO , till now, and it's hardly a quiet tyre after clocking more then 8K on it. (it's a common characteristic for Directional tyres)

But i must admit, it's steering response plus grip in both dry & wet road is commendable. It slice thru puddles of waters like a knife along highway (NOTE: within safe speed limit )

One queer thing i realise, for tyres of such performance, why isn't the sidewall made slightly harder for better handler.(personal preference)

BUT, i'll not be going back there for my next tyre change.

Reason:
They are starting to charge S$25 for simple front/back rotation, additional S$25 per tyre if you want to flip side

Last time there's no such ridiculous charges and that they are the only one in SG selling Hankook Tyres.

Besides, being a user who leans towards directional tyre, i have another option which price range is similar - Goodyear FI Directional 5 : any user feedback?

In my humble opinion, if you want performance tires with hard sidewall, go for Bridgestones. :)

V12 has decent grip, but it is still considered a comfort tyre, and most comfort tyres have softer sidewalls.

Comparing Hankook to Hankook, I was running S1 Evo on my previous ride, and I'd say the sidewalls are stiffer than the V12. But then S1 Evo isn't a comfort tyre ;)

oh, but back to the time when i took up my first set of V12 EVO, there's no S1 EVO in the range and V12 EVO is their top range in the UHP category. That's why i'm surprised.:o
