Is there anything i need to do if this is the case? any advice on the configuration for wireless on the router? Channel, Mode etc?

Would advice you drop 1627 a call, and talk to their tech support team.
What you described here is too vague for us to narrow down the issue.

Before you call, you may want to reboot all your equipment,
scan and ensure your pc is free of malware / virus.

For the 1gb mobile data am i suppose to get the usb device for free or i have to buy it myself?

can i still sign up for e laptop promo wif handphone plan @ $79 at any m1shop? i juz came back from overseas... miss sitex...

yes you can, i called m1 to ask and the offer is extended till further notice. the cso told me it will last for at least another 1-2 weeks.

Disconnection

Hi,
My advise to those going for M1 be careful as their technical support really suck. My friend using their HG256 and after every 1-2 hours it will disconnect by itself and she have to switch off and on the HG before she can use. Call up their technical support and they update the firmware and do some setting remotely but have the same problem. Then the technical support asked her to changed the HG and after changing also the same problem. Called them again and they say they really do not know what is the root cause as from their side they do not see any problem. Advised my friend to change service provider or the HG after her contract ends as curently my friend cannot terminate her contract else have to pay penalty. Any ways I can take legal issue with M1 for poor service and still have to finished the contract. For me I have changed to Viewquest during Sitex and cancelled my last 4 months with M1 and pay the penalty.

I have changed my HG256 once since it keeps disconnecting after that no issue, remember to keep the box that comes with it. FYI you can change as many times as you want at any M1 shop.

Why shd you pay penalty for termination due to no resolution to your service glitches?
What legal action you want to take when you din ever pursue the waiver with m1 in the first place?..let lawyers earn? Both side lose?

So the only way is to write to IDA to file a complaint about M1?

No usb provided, only SIM card. If got any spare smart phone that can tethering or hotspot it will be great!

file complaint to ida, you don't get your money back.

Pay $50, go sct with documentation of their failed attempts, likely will waive. Now that you paid, hard to get money back lor. At most half, which is not worth it, the time and energy too.

I had a similar experience with starhub, no pay penalty and drag for 10 mths, with their solicitors and mgmt. In the end, waived without gg sct.

Ah Wise, what's the latest now for those on the old ONT and renting HG256? Are we able to change it to the new one and use our own router? Can this be done during the re-contract without incurring any charges? And when is the earliest period where we can re-contract? My contract ends in Mar 2013 if I remember correctly.

not advisable if using it main and frequent.

My connection at home is generally quite stable, but it's voice is laggy, where you have to wait about 1 seconds on both sides to hear each other.
Best to advise opposite party to speak walkie-talkie style, 1 at a time.
