My Singnet ADSL 10 Mbps expiring after 3rd Feb 2013.

Signed up with M1 about 3 weeks ago. Just installed ONT with M1 FTTH 100 Mbps and also using the new Linksys E1200v2 purchased from M1.

Tested wired connection. Pretty consistent download with 93~95 Mbps and upload 70 ~ 83 Mbps with the basic router with no gigabit port. I am glad that I moved away from Singnet ADSL 10 Mbps.

Appointment for ONT was between 9am and 1 pm.
The guy came with the ONT device and power up the Huawei HG 8240, plug-in the fibre cable and ethernet cable connection to his notebook for testing.
All in 6 minute job (ont installation value $58 for 6 minute work) without setting up connections to any router or pc and I have to figured it out myself. Anyway, it was good that my ONT installation fee was waived.

Good to also test servers based in US as results from those servers would indicate the overseas bandwidth M1 allocates to fiber subscribers.

Same case here, They insist the router is faulty and need to replace. However no stock and need to wait. Cannot give me a date !!! Poor M1. Guess is not a good ideal to stay with them anymore. Not sure if our world class IDA know about this kind of situation.

Hi, my no internet connection on the 10Jan. Only managed to replace my HG256 router on 18Jan after 3pm. M1 said they have no stock.
If u want to use yr own router, u have to return M1 router 1st then within 7days only they will be able to untag the HG256 router.
Kindly note:
The service by M1 > router n etcs. (of course other like Starhub & SIngtel)
The ONT service by Nucleus Connect, a sister coy of starhub.
OpenNet did the cable from HDB ground cable to yr TP.
Most of the Fibre cables under ground were laid by Singtel.
Too many red-tapes lah!!

Thanks, I will test it sometime later. The key is for a start is to get the local test good enough to know and then the overseas test.

When I signed-up, I was little concerned that some of the local speed test from this forum shows low download and upload speed.
So far for me, I am ok with local test DL 93~95 Mbps and UL 70~83 Mbps. The UL test was above the 50 Mbps M1 spec.:s12:

Hi guys,

I've recently sign up for the m1 100mbps fibre broadband and the m1 shop recommended me the linksys E1200 router. To my despair the router is horrible.

With direct cable, i was able to achieve 90+ mbps download speed at speedtest. with wifi right beside the router i can get 25 mbps max.

7m away from the router in my room, the speed dropped to a mere 0.7 - 1.2 mbps.

Some help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

that's a norm depending on your house structure there are obstruction like walls etc. you might try to get a wifi repeater it might helps to extend the coverage =D

Hi T_fusion, please teach me how to connect 2G to surf net when there's not even a Cellular Signal for making phone call on last Tues?
Unless you are thinking the same way as M1 Chief Technical Officer-Mr Patrick Michael Scodeller. He mentioned that 3G is down but 2G still available.

Look at the tons of complaints at M1 facebook, I think M1 core service is Mobile Telecommunication.
http://www.facebook.com/mobile1

My point is not about service breakdown, it's how M1 smoke it's way through saying got 2G when there's not even a GSM network. M1 integrity and professionalism always in doubt.

some hp don't automatically fall back onto 2G-only mode if they can't detect a 3G signal.

you may need to manually disable 3G and/or set your hp to 2G mode.

diff os and diff hp model things will be different...

i advise you contact m1 and let them guide you thru step by step, or alternatively contact your hp manufacturer and let them guide you thru.

this router is just a entry level kind of router and thus performance wise is very average. you may want to consider flashing to those 3rd party firmware? its at your own risk if you "damaged" it.

think about a month ago in this same thread a guy did that & manage to achieve quite a good speed.

The asus router from the latest m1 promotion seem like a good direction from m1 to allow their customer will get a good connections via the asus router.

Is this 'M1-Preset' one of the default profiles found in the router? Or where to get the router configuration from? This setup will allow you to use RT56U as the wifi and LAN router directly from ONT and the RG after the RT56U just for the telephone line?

Yes the stock firmware contain the "M1-Fiber" Preset settings.

Question

I'm on the black ONT, Huawei HG8240, just installed today.
Lan 1 of the ONT is connected to Lan 3 of my DIR 825, does it go like that?
I am not sure of how to configure my router so that Wireless is usable.
Now it's not usable, only wired connections are up.
