Well take off your pink glasses and realize it's not all rosy. You don't have any issues whatsoever? Great, that's nice for you. No reason to try and put down someone who *does* have issues.

FYI, I complained that the vqtv was not HD. All you fanboys started going "no, it's your connection, use Ethernet not wifi" blah blah blah. 1 week later VQ admits the box cannot do Netflix in HD.

So if you are too deluded/fanboi to expect customer service from a company that advertises itself with it's CS, stfu and go jump in bedok reservoir.

El Carnicero,

Pls go back and read the two posts you made which I quoted. Read and figure out what was it that we (or at least I am) particular about. If you still think I am defending VQ blindly, then there is nothing more to say to you.

I am sure there are others who will be observant enough or know me well enough to catch it.

Hint: It was never about the issue(s) with various service(s) VQ offers which you have.

i dont have issues. neither do the rest of us. so its only you.

if you are not happy with VQ, just leave

Ah, I see. So rather than your glorious Messiah company actually having issues which they themselves admitted after we brought it up (there's more than just me, but I guess you have selective vision), you prefer that anyone who has any issues quit VQ so you can continue living in your fairy-tale world.

Grow up. If you do not like that customers of your glorious company have issues and came to the forums to complain about the issues, just leave, or start a "let us all praise and glorify VQ" thread and stay there so that people who do have issues can report them without fanbois like you contributing shiat to the resolution.

I am not even on VQ yet.

I actually read thru the previous thread as well.

http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/77567701-post9953.html

Go b!tch elsewhere. I already said I tried wired as well.

Easiest solution: Ditch VQ, go Starhub. No need for additional cabling/trunking, everything works, no guessing/praying that things buffer correctly.

http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/77455314-post9855.html

So... I called VQ support this morning because I'm getting "access denied" when browsing to hulu or netflix. Sleepy-sounding guy picks up, says he'll investigate and call me back (which of course has not happened yet, maybe I should call him up again to wake him up from his beauty sleep?).

Then sit here twiddling my thumbs waiting.

Starhub usually calls back within 15 minutes if I report an issue.

VQ has been very unstable, it's dropped connections quite a few times already, resulting in my corporate VPN connection dropping. This has really impacted me (I was on remote desktop with a customer, and another time it dropped my corporate VM image download twice). No such issues with Starhub.

Right now I'm really glad I still have by Starhub cable internet as a backup, so far I'm wondering why we pay a premium for VQ.

Unless you tell me you are on corporate plan or VVIP client for Starhub. I don't think anyone believes you if you make claims about 15 mins callback by starhub. FYI i used to work for starhub tech support.

Oh you have every right as a consumer to feedback to the provider.

However you have been consistently been the only one who is constantly having issues with the provider. Which leads one or others to believe that PEBKAC....

I have to say your signal to noise ratio pertaining to VQ has been pretty low.

I really do think the moderators here need to do a better job. No matter how much you want to defend VQ and no matter the fact that you are right, the lot of you here are acting like a gang. This is cyber bullying, no less. So lay off everyone. We all have the right to our own opinion and no one should be admonished for it.

That said, I truly do believe while no ISP is perfect, ViewQwest is just about as good as it gets in terms of speed and customer service.

I say this through personal experience, being a subscriber of both SingTel fiber and ViewQwest fibernet. I use VQ as my main service, SingTel as a redundancy.

I tried recently to make better use of the SingTel fiber line. While VQ's Freedom VPN service is great, it can still be slow at times. So I got a VPN service and tied it to my SingTel line. I can stream HD video just fine. But here's the kicker:

I tested and found the Los Angeles based VPN server to be fastest for both ST and VQ connections. But in conducting a speed test using the dedicated VPN app, ST's topped up at about 300kB/s. VQ's astounded me with over 8000kB/s. Same server, same wired connection, same computer, same time. Not to mention I don't use SingTel's crappy Pace router - I upgraded it to an Asus N66U and run my VPN as an applet on the router itself.

On the customer service front, I've had issues with VQ especially in the area of billing. But there's no better comfort of being able to pick the phone up and reach someone in tech support at any time of the day (or night), and not be put through a series of options or a long wait.

I requested just yesterday to change my Zhone from router to bridged mode. Got it done on the spot. Was even surprised when I received a second follow up call back because tech support subsequently detected my router wasn't working like it was supposed to. This is something you'll NEVER get with ST or any of the other big telcos.

So yes, that's my testimonial for VQ. Love the service, but hating the community. You guys need to stop acting like hounds. Just because you know better doesn't give you the right to dismiss others. People will always have something bad to say about VQ. You can challenge the view with your own positive experience, but they're still entitled to theirs. And if VQ's own representatives here are silent about the criticism, why should you be so worked up about it?

Take a chill pill. Go watch football and vent your frustrations on the opposing team supporters instead. Oh wait, I forgot we're all geeks here. :p

Good & honest testimonial, fully agreed with you esp. those comments in red. I would tend to trust you rather than those few fanboi that happily hit on anyone with different view on VQ.

Unfortunately we can't offer number porting at the moment - we're still trying to persuade the Big 3 to allow us to do it :)

Hey. R u using Astrill VPN on the N66U? I also tried the applet. However, I think because OpenVPN requires too much CPU processing, it compromises the router non-tunnel performance. If u also use Astrill VPN, we can exchange some info. :D

Totally 101% agree. I myself may have been guilty on acting slightly fanboy-ish with my excessive screenshots :p But that just stems out of how happy I've been with the service. After years of 'abuse' by the Big 3 :p

That said, I've definitely stood up against VQ too on the occasion where they prioritized new customers with new plans over their loyal early adopters (Would that be cyber-bullying of the ISP? :p) And I think we've constantly pushed them towards transparency as well, although it helps that the company is inherently pretty transparent already.

I think what crewcutboy (CCB? LOL) is saying is that we should be more open with critique, not just start to blame user-fault all the time etc. Which might not always be the case.

When I installed a new router on VQ, there were a lot of MAC address issues that could be only resolved on VQ's tech side, luckily they were patient and diligent enough to work it out over 2 hours at 3am in the morning to get it resolved.

I can imagine if I had come onto HWZ forums then and complained about this, then being told it was a user problem, how pissed I would be at that point of time.

Ok sorry for the wall of text. haha

Just to be clear. The twice I quoted the posts of shadey is not because he is having issues with VQ service or connection.

The two posts of shadey are non-factual accusations that have deep implications - undermining the "integrity" of VQ moderators/administrators.

In events when VQ is not doing what is right or not delivering services to standards, I am sure you know I do give VQ a piece of my mind too.

So... you are a VQ admin/mod? Why else jump to their defense?

Oh look, the other joker is here too. This is the joker that blindly shoot that the VQTV is perfect, always full HD in Netflix, blah blah, tried to say it was my fault for not testing with LAN, that it was my network's fault, etc etc.

Turns out VQ themselves admitted the VQTV is not full HD in Netflix, then this joker was very quiet instead of admitting he was dead wrong and just blindly shooting without knowing WTF he is talking about.

Your rabid dog defense of VQ, along with your inability to admit mistakes, is already documented. Go away, stop spreading your lies and FUD here.

Any wifi router to recommend?

Dear folks,

I have just signed up for the viewqwest 150 Mbps plan. I understand that the modem provided by viewqwest is unable to provide good wifi signal or strength. Is there any modem or router that I can purchase to get a better wifi signal or strength?

Thanks for your help in advance.
