The resolution is the same. Can change the title? It is not 25% brighter.

Hmm I thought there would be an increase in resolution, but doesn't look like it.

Contrast is very different from brightness. That is why computer monitors have 2 knobs. One for brightness and one for contrast. The kindle has very good contrast, at very low brightness, which is what makes it great.

The newer kindle has better contrast. We don't know if it is brighter (not important).

I ordered one as well. But should have ordered the japanese one, cheaper and with 4GB space as compared to the 2GB in the us one.

You may have support issues if there is a problem with it ( and you can't type Japanese).
