How much ? Downtime?

Down time around 1 week cause still have other things to do.....Price you have to negotiate with the person.

But what I like about the boss is that he is very knowledgeable. Cause I need to replace my engine bearings and he said need to measure to find exact fit. Some workshop simply just replace anyhow.

He even send my crank for balance and hardening. wow..... Really cool.

You can see my original bearings got some lines already. Those are wear.

Hhmm to leave the car in JB for 1 week is surely not what I will dare to do thou.
Nevertheless, if you think the saving is worthy having to weight the 'risk'.

Why not......

Going MY for repair is only meant for poor pple who can't afford the premium prices charged by local workshops.

I don't own a premium brand like you all. My is just a lowly proton. Not some branded Merc or BMW or Audi etc..... If you can afford such cars, why would you even bother about repair cost? Pple can afford over 100K for altis.... what is 10K repair cost?

Nope, its not done yet. Still have other things to do. Its a major work, not only engine overhaul cause I choose to do everything together since going to take engine apart. Next week then come back.

Latest update is engine complete assembly. Going to put everything back into the car. One critical piece sent to machine shop, waiting for it to come back.

ohh dear, bro do not get me wrong.
There is no right or wrong to leave your car there or not.
But lot of stories been heard.
Whatever car driven, it is still paid off with our own hard-earned money, so will be heart-pain if anything bad happened if left the car there.
Cheycheychey

Please do not get me wrong, I myself too drive to JB to service my ride.
Guess it just me, who may not be comfortable to leave the car there for this long..

No hard feeling man.

Oh ok bro. Sorry I thought you are poking fun at me.

I also don't feel safe leaving my car there for a few days.

This one is different because my friend knows them for a long long time already. He always leave his car there for weeks for major mods and servicing one.

Btw, bro, I recommend you visit a reputable workshop, I believe those horror stories came from pple who visit workshops for low price rather than quality.

There are premium workshops in malaysia just like SG. I know a few but they are mostly in KL. I ever seen a Nissan GTR left in a KL workshop for a month for major mods. Its SG car plate.

I know where you are coming from.
Back to the point/my point, things happaned for a reason.
Like what they said, when there is smoke, there is bound to be fire.
So it really depend if any wish to leave it to chance thou which we as a car's owner will weight the risk.
My point is every car purchased is our hard-earned money spent, so there's never any car too 'cheap' to be treasured.

Once again I do apology for the wrong words used in my previous message if any to cause any mis-understanding, etc.

But my case is bo pian. Cause mine is malaysia car. There is no workshop in SG that really knows about my car. The pple in malaysia knows my car inside out. Engine overhaul is like a piece of cake to them.

i feel safer driving further north to do that JB itself.
But further north means you too need to come back to sg by coach/flight or trouble your friend to drive you up and down if you wish to check it out at times..
