ISP "A" also have referral program but somehow one of their guy starts to badmouthing ISP "B" with blatant of lies that proclaiming certain bad points as a fiber provider happens to ISP "B" but not "A" subscribers. However, the truth is the opposite.

One can badmouth other ISP, but please back up with facts, or at least partial truth that is generally recognized if the original source is hard to find so that one at least is not evil minded with some hidden agenda but rather confusion that requires clarification.
Wow!! Guess that referral system must be really worth it to make one do that.

If i remember correctly it was introduced in March of this year. It was indeed a speed bump from 200mbps to 300mbps under the same price plan - and we did upgrade all our existing customers on that plan for free :)

Not a subscriber yet?

Ask around fellow subscribers in here and in Fibernet forum. No one gets left behind whenever there is a new plan with speed bump up, including existing subscribers automatically get bump up.

Looking back, it seems SingTel partially copied this approach after ViewQwest spearheaded the "speed bump up for all subscribers" approach.
Thanks for the input. Here is the reason why I asked.I have been an existing customer from the moment ViewQwest introduced Fibernet 200 (No contract plan). Up to today, l am still under Fibernet 200 (No contract plan). Apparently, ViewQwest had forgotten about me and had left me out completely in upgrading from Fibernet 200 to Fibernet 300 and now Fibernet 400. So from March, I had paid under the same price plan for an outdated plan for 8 months. Due to my busy work schedule, I am not able to keep up with the changes to those plans introduced by Telcos. Only recently about 2 days ago , did l went and browse on ViewQwest and came upon Fibernet 400 (No contract plan). l called up technical support and they confirmed l am still under Fibernet 200. Then l called sales dept to find out when this Fibernet 400 (No contract plan) was introduced . She told me it was introduced during COMEX . So l queried her why wasn't l automatically upgraded after been informed all existing customers under the previous plan were automatically given the speed bump. She mentioned she will investigate on this and at the same time , she will arrange tech support to immediately upgrade me to Fibernet 400. As to today , l had not yet received a reply from her on the outcome of her investigation. In the mean time , tech support is putting me up to Fibernet 400. However somewhere along the way , tech support me to reset the modem as they couldn't get me up to the required speed. A firmware upgrade was performed but the modem seem to be unresponsive to the upgrade. After endless troubleshooting and been out of service for the whole day (btw l am using my smartphone to post on the forum). They have decided to send me a new modem which their engineers will be arriving today to replace. All l can say is that , l have no complaints against the tech support because from my viewpoint , they did their best to try to resolve the situation. However l am disappointed that l have been completely omitted from the speed bump , not once but twice for so long (from 200 mbps to 300 mbps and now to 400 mbps). As to now, no one from the sales dept had come forward with an explanation.

"partially" ? :s8:

The "Partially" is because some SingNet subscribers have to pay a token sum to get upgraded to new speed. :s13:

Check out the other SingTel/SingNet speed bump thread...Inconsistent implementation where some need to pay, some don't need pay.

QFT. Some Mio user no problem because Singtel implement second line provision and give others no word of lag TV issue like me. So I have every reason to hate their "some subscribers gets more fairer treatment than others" situation in Stinktel.

Hello!

When the upgrades are done, basically all customers on a certain speed plan profile are upgraded to the new speed (e.g: everyone on 200mbps - becomes 300mbps), so in this way i find it really weird that you would have gotten missed out.

What i'm guessing happened is that the upgrade may have actually been done, but due to the problem with the modem the upgrade wasn't apparent.

Whenever we do these upgrades, we do make the announcements to let you all know via HWZ, Facebook - and recently we also sent out a newsletter to all subscribers that had a section to inform everyone that the upgrades had been completed - and if you couldn't see a difference in speed - to please contact our NOC so they could look into it for you :)

Cypher2dex,

I am glad that you have come forward to share and in a constructive manner instead of bashing like some others will do.

This is definitely a lapse that I will jump up on VQ for too, being a fellow subscriber myself.

_____
To ViewQwest,

Having wonderful marketing and new services is great. In my opinion, what makes an exceptionally excellent provider is one that follows through with implementations and walking the talk.

I have confidence in ViewQwest to be able to bridge the gaps/lapses and achieve an even greater milestone.

I am sure ViewQwest will have someone look into Cypher2dex's case and take appropriate actions as I post. May be a review again to see if there is anymore lapses during the September speed bumping.

_____
To VQ Subscribers,

Not fingerpointing. Just to share with the rest of the audience one more reason/benefit to leave their ONT on. I am sure having the ONT on all the time will allow the provider to discover its existence and probably help to prevent being left behind in situation like this.

The focus here is really to buy the referrer/refer-ee a few good kopis :] I don't think we’re trying to run a pyramid scheme here, ;)

Oh yeah, I think 15 referrals still gets you a 1Gbps line for a certain number of months, so if you're crazy about that, :)

Firstly to get the clarity in all of these. l first make a call to tech support to find out exactly which plan l was in. He did a check and told me l am under Fibernet 200.After explaining to him that l am under a No contract plan. He explain to me he Is unsure how that could have happened. SInce they are only authorised to deal with issue of technical in nature. It was suggested I bring it up to someone else , preferably the sales dept. And the sales dept also confirmed I am indeed still under Fibernet 200. l believe you do have logs of communications tracked in all your dealings with all your customers. You can verify through all of these. By the way , the engineers are scheduled to arrIve at my premIsed between 11a.m - 1pm.*

What about me? My invoice still show FibreNet 150(No contract) Cust #A00008187

Invoice always show the plan which you signed up for.

What matters is the actual speed which you are getting, which should be 200Mbps after the recent speed bump. :)

The backend is supposed to upgrade everyone automatically but from past experience/upgrades eg COMEX it seems like a very small handful are missed out.

Hopefully subscribers are able to contact NOC to expedite the upgrade in that case.

May I ask which WiFi extenders are compatible with the ZHONE router? It seems my notebook (inside my bed room behind one wall) can only get 3-4 bars out of max 5 WiFi signal from the ZHONE Router (placed in the living room). I am looking for WiFi extenders that is compatible to boost the signal.

So now which plan am I on? I am lost and confused. I presume I should be on the Fibernet 400 Bundle plan since my bills have been charged at $89.95 per month?

First of all , I find it commendable that ViewQwest came up with a plan to grant customers an auto speed bump. Maybe that in itself tone down my feelings of venting my frustration. ln moving forward. There is no point in making things muddier as the lapse had already occurred. ls up to ViewQwest to act on it and make sure there is no reoccurance.

Update on the status. The engineers came. They replaced the modem. Unfortunately, they could not detect any signal from Opennet. So my situation is still unresolved. Reason given was Opennet had not resolved the issue completely since the fire at BP exchange. Another reason given was the update on the firmware did not completely go through yesterday because the link was severed by Opennet. Also, the engineer on site reminded a tech staff from HQ to bump up my speed from 200mbps to 400mbps.

Another reason given was the update on the firmware did not completely go through yesterday because the link was severed by Opennet. Also, the engineer on site reminded a tech staff from HQ to bump up my speed from 200mbps to 400mbps.

Just to share, without this so-call Fire @ Singtel Bukit Panjang issue couple months back, I also had such encounters. My ZHONE Router WAN LED turned RED. Back then I had 2 weeks without Fibernet access and had to depend on my crawly 3G tethering. VQ NOC tried remotely to reach my ZHONE but was unable to. They did their SOP by asking me to help disconnecting the Fiber Patch Cord from both the FTP and the ZHONE end and I did so and they still could not reach my ZHONE. So end up they sent an Engineer on-site. The Engineer that came also tested and still cannot fix the issue then check the Opennet Fiber signal at the FTP. He shown me the signal and told me that signal was too weak. VQ had to contact Opennet to check. But then this happened suddenly since I was already on board VQ Raptor 200 for 2-3 weeks since March this year and was able to surf Internet via VQ Fibernet. Opennet came and checked per VQ's request which took another couple days. VQ Engineer then came to follow-up and then replaced the ZHONE router (my 4th ZHONE Routers). They did the re-provisioning on the replacement router before they finally resolved my Fibernet connectivity issue. My case could be isolated as one off case but this is the worst I ever encountered with any ISP.

Although, the 4th router is serving me well since, I am not able to get connected via the LAN for close to a month. The LAN connections keep telling me unable to identify network hence no Internet connection. I was lazy to reset the router and to bring my notebook to the living room to test so did not lodge any case with VQ NOC on this yet. I had to rely on the weak WiFi signal hence I wanna check on the compatible Acess Point with ZHONE to boost my signal.

would it be overkill to use edgemax lite as router and rt56u as AP?

ERL is 3 port without wifi, if you already owns asus rt56u,config it as AP is sufficient for normal use.

*rt56u is dual-band and better wifi performance than zhone 2426

*wireless AC (IEEE 802.11ac) is new and faster but it's short of range cover,
if consider performance , wired is the better idea and save yrs money :s13:
