If my starhub set top box is the old one, can my T2 smart full HD tv receive the HD channel?

The DVB-T2 tuner works independently from your StarHub STB. If your StarHub STB isn't HD, you still will not get the HD channels. But you can receive digital HD channels from mediacorp if you plug in antenna to the tuner on your TV.

draco set top box is for DVB-T2/DVB-T digital channels only. not for analogue.
for analogue channels, just connect scv socket to tv directly (as usual) and ur tv should be able to recv analogue channels clearly (as analogue signal is transmitted via scv cable, not over-the-air).

channel u was available on analogue before dec 2013. now all mediacorp channels are available via DVB-T2 digital.

Where to buy it ? Can share and pricing also.

Good. How about the reception for the other 4 FTA T digital channels broadcast on Chan 38?

I am curious to know the overal performance of indoor antenna as claimed by makers, not just for chan 27, 29 and 31. MediaCorp plans to migrate octo to chan 33 by the middle of2014, according to its FAQ. Can share the model no. of your antenna?

All 7 FTA channels are very clear as well. Just that Channel U, Okto, and CNA still not in HD yet. So the picture quality is just like analogue.

By the way, I am using Daiyo EU 1702 antenna.

I concur. In fact, getting my okto n cna n ch u thru digital broadcast has solved my snowflake woes. Previously these were super fuzzy thru analogue.

As I said, think for digital there are no 'degrees' of clarity. either u get the signal or u don't. Once U get it, quality is the same. I.e. Good.

Also using eu1702. Courts sells $64. BD $69. Not sure other places

Please all take note just in case.

Daiyo EU1702 digital antenna is for those with dvb-t2 tuner built in TV.

Draco is for those tv without dvb-t2.

Miotv and starhub box will show HD soon......but dunno how soon.

Some may want to try Daiyo EU1702 for their Draco stb if the free Draco antenna in the box does not give them satisfactory reception.

Thanks for replying. Are you able to receive the FTA channels with identifications as 800, 801, 802 and 803? If so then you Daiyo can receive chan 38.

Wah then lidat outlay $200. Thanks hor MDA.

If all homes could just connect directly thru starhub cable point then no cost right? No need to buy antenna etc. I thought tax payers paid for the Singapore telecoms n later SCV cable infrastructure? These were laid in 1990s to allow paid cable tv option to all homes right? But now only subscribers can use them for FTA digital channels, hence not ALL taxpayers can get FTA digital tv through the infra tt all taxpayers paid for?

Did anyone see MDA's reply in ST on Thursday why cannot use starhub cable infra? They said is commercial network etc n will have extra costs etc if try to tap on it. Can't govt absorb the cost rather than pass to taxpayers? Sorry not meaning to bash agency but I'm not clear why we can't all just use the existing cable infra.

Please read post #319 by Moderator.

@ mrsun - Moderator said talk about DTV. MDA's ST reply is about DTV.

So it is relevant. Unlike a discussion on BN closure. (How can u even compare the 2?) People need to know why they have to buy extra stuff to get digital FTA. It is govt policy, albeit based on 'technical' reasons. But this does not mean we must digress to govt or agency bashing.

Pls read post #411.

Well, you have to buy at least a new TV with DVB-T2 to enjoy something new right? Otherwise someone using those old CRT TV will also expect free add on to enjoy HD.

I read all posts, including yours, seriously.

My view is that this thread is for discussion of technical issues, not on govt policy.

Daiyo only helps you to receive the signals, including all video and audio encoded (can have both stereo and 5.1, for example) in the particular program. TVs and set top box will decode the signals. If your tuner (either tv or stb) have stereo only, you won't get 5.1.
