Anybody tried to cast videos from desktop/laptop in cloud.real.com to Chromecast ?
I tried but the casting icon did not appear. It works fine casting from my Android phone using the RealPlayer Cloud app.

I just installed AllCast from PlayStore and it casts photos and mp4 videos very well. Very happy with it, so bought the Premium version for a few bucks. I am a big fan of Koush.

Please help. Newbie.

I tried to configure my Chromecast with my Asus RT-N56U router with stock firmware.
I have already ensure the 5GHz is radio off. But I still cannot get my Chromecast to connect to my wifi.
If I tried to connect via my PC, I noticed that the Asus wifi is not available in the list of wifi that is selectable for connection.

Other devices does not have any issue connecting.

Any advice?

I had exactly the same problem when I tried to connect a Chromecast on my daughter`s TV. Then I tried, and was successful, to install from her iPad (or smartphone).

There are now 13 apps that are supported by Chromecast. Some are not country-specific, and I just installed 2 of them - VIKI and Red Bull TV. Both can run on my Chromecast, when I cast with my Nexus 7, but they timeout after about 3-4 mins. They run OK on the Nexus 7 when not casting, so I suspect the problem lies with Chromecast and/or the app itself. Has anyone run these apps successfully (without timeouts) on their Chromecast?

Edit: It casts OK on my Nexus 5. And both my N7 and N5 have same wifi settings. Strange!

For those who are using DNS based VPN (MR teleport/Unlocator...), besides the iptables workaround, there is another method to cast Netflix.

[HOWTO] Chromecast/Netflix outside USA without VPN - Page 21 - xda-developers

Basically, you need to set up a static route for the Google DNS so that it will result in host unreachable and Chromecast will use your DHCP DNS. I've tried it on MR teleport and I am able to cast Netflix now. This method is easier and it will still work after router is rebooted. These are my settings for static route on Asus RT56U:

8.8.8.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.250 1 LAN
8.8.4.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.250 1 LAN

Please read the last few pages in the XDA thread to understand more.

Allcast, now, via ChromeCast, is able to cast photos, videos, etc from your Android device to the TV. ChromeCast is getting better by the day!
