I think Tudor Pelagos and Black Bay just made it to my shortlisted list! Charmed by Black Bay's red bezel.

Black bay vs Pelagos. What's the view of all the watch experts here?

And I still have a long list of models and brands recommended by all the helpful people here. Keep them coming pls!:s12:

Mine seen was at Orchard Central. Tried it and was quite nice on wrist, but i got other "target" liao... so.... :s8:

The black bay seem striking with the red bezel. I would go for the Pelagos, imo more *MAN*.

It would be better to shorten the list, if not it may take forever to get that faithful watch. Good luck. ;)

no date window is a deal breaker for me. if not, i'd go for the Black Bay for its vintage look.

You might need to find out if your htb prefers with date or without. Might help you with shortlisting.

I would say Rolex keep it for a more sentimental milestone like your 10th anniversary or when he reaches 40 or gets promoted to a really senior level.

Maybe it'll be good to see which kind of watch he prefers. Try dropping some hints by showing pictures. Not that he will mind the watch just that you will want him to enjoy the watch too.

Tudor heritage chrono?
Depends if he wants something simple or something with more detail
It retails for the same price as pelagos but using a more refined movement

You can read more about it at these 2 links

A Week On The Wrist: The Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue

Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue Watch Review | aBlogtoWatch

Quick summary:
- using 2892-A2 as compared to 2824-2 in Pelagos and Black Bay (2892-A2 is perceived to be a more sought after and superior movement)
- chronograph function module up to 45 mins (just nice for soccer? lol)
- heritage of the Monte Carlo Blue
- the blue is an updated version from the black/grey which was released in 2010
- i fell in love with the knurled pushes, crown and bezel as seen below, it's aesthetically very pleasing and gives it a very high end feel and much easier to grip

was contemplating between black bay, pelagos and heritage chrono

The lack of date function on the black bay pushed me to pelagos and heritage chrono and choosen the latter for more value, vintageand luxurious impression/feel

My heritage chrono is at +5.5 secs after 22 days, can't ask for better accuracy

The only complains that I have is that the date is abit small and the lume for the blue version is not as good

For purely looks factor and identity however, i think black bay wins hands down

Black bay comes with either distressed leather or metal bracelet, a difference of about $400 between the 2 options

The heritage chrono comes in bracelet and a free NATO strap

Not sure about the pelagos but it feels good although in titanium (most titanium watches are too light, feels like a toy and lacks the luxurious high end feel)

My suggestion is a new Tudor. Reason is that it is essentially a Rolex without the premium pricing.

I understand that Rolex and Tudor watches are from the same maker, so supposedly they are of the same quality.

I thought Tudor black bay is a good looking piece but consulted 2 friends and they said not nice:s22: One said don't like the red bezel one said dont like the face lol.

That leaves me to worry if I get it I don't know if my fiance will fall into their group or mine.

If your fiancé love you, irregardless of what u buy, he will still like it..............................;)

He like the first watch that u buy for him ?

If that's the case, I believe your taste and his are similar...............:D

are you asking the right people? not to diss your friends. im guessing they are woman/younger guys. but these options are like the most safe watch you can ever get that will most likely stand the test of time. the dial of that diver is like the most standard you can ever get with. if your friend doesnt like that, meaning most divers are off the board.

on a serious note, cortina got sales from the main watch thread. you should go down see whether anything takes your fancy. and ask your friends opinion too regarding what watch is nice so you have more options.
