I sourced a list of firms that I may want to intern at, here is the list, anyone can share their opinions? Are these firms considered singapore's best? SIM student here!

If you are not even able to identify the Big 4 and Medium tiers, I don't know what have you been doing..

Do you even know what is audit and what auditors do?

Well I really don't know how he misplaced or left it lying around since I can't find your original post, but you're the kind of client I would love to avoid. A feedback to the manager would suffice, and I really detest threats.

I mean, you were formerly one of us, you would know how it feels.

I know some ex-auditors are known to tekan the auditors who are auditing them. I know where you are coming from, but that auditor you threatened will be affected. Afterall, we are sandwiched between our managers/partners, clients that we liaise with, and management.

Oh well... :s13:

then gd luck to your career in audit then, if that already make you unhappy about the client, it also prove the idiom that 忠言逆耳 hold true in all ages... and from your response, i doubt you know where i am coming from even though you are right that i was formerly from external audit, the audit team do not bothers me for schedules, documents etc but i definitely need to address my team concern which are very valid, but i also need to see the audit team gets what they want since they, the various teams, help me in my work in actual fact by doing a 2nd review.

there is a thin line between threat and advice, to you, it maybe a threat, but it could also be a advice to the senior that such actions could get him/her and his/her team in huge trouble if they do that in other places... and did i even say i feedback to the manager or partner about this :s13:

that said...

if they show me they are competent and they know what they are doing... I can be be a very good client.. I'll offer advise on how to audit whatever their concern is... and tell them the most efficient way to go about it.

I couldn't find your original comment, was it removed?

Don't have to wish my luck, I'm not staying past 2nd year. :s13:

Definitely understand the sensitivity of certain documents matters, but of course I am having my fair share of nasty clients who sent a ridiculous complain to my manager and refuses to reply emails.

Making a mountain out of a freaking molehill.

My dear seniors in the audit sector, I need some advice here.

I'm about to graduate from UOL this coming May with an expected first class honors(I know it's a **** degree and all but I've worked really hard for it while being in NS.). I'm currently contemplating if I should apply for AA1(Diploma level) in PwC despite having a degree. Reason being, what I've heard so far is that Big 4 does not hire from private unis, or least that is the case for PwC where the HR manager told me that in the face.

Can I please have some advice on what I should do next? Should I proceed to apply for the diploma level in PwC or is there any way out? The fact that the application closes this friday isn't helping either.

Would appreciate if I could get some advice here. Be it nasty or constructive, I welcome them.

Btw, I'm currently doing audit in a mid tier firm. Been in it for close to half a year already.

From someone who really loves audit.

Hi seniors,

what if i accept my offer verbally but at a later date, I decide not to take up the offer, will there be any problems for me? Will my word be binding?

Apparently, I need to give an answer to pwc on whether i should take up this offer. Any advice will be great!

Email:

Hi xxx,

That's great.

We will be preparing the contract and send it to you via email upon your acceptance and arrange for you to drop by the office to sign on the original contract when you return to Singapore.

We would appreciate if you can give us your acceptance asap so that we can proceed with other candidates in line.
In addition, we will only send you the offer contract upon your verbal acceptance with us.
Let me know if you need further information.
Thanks.

Just wondering is it internship? Cause i heard PwC today calling people and ask them whether to accept their internship offer. If you had accept the offer verbally, it is generally enforceable. Contract is form by 4 factors
Offer - the phone call
Acceptance - your verbal acceptance (I believe their phone is recorded)
Consideration- your works + the $$$ paid
Intention - generally B2C have a legal intention.
The contract is binding so yep if you wanna break it, you could be face with civil penalties.

Just finished your law unit mate?
:s22:

You may verbally agree but it is not formalized until you and the firm's rep sign the black and white hard copy contract.

Even so, there may be a no-show clause. Read the contract.

I suggest you try for a graduate position first... no harm trying, right?

why don't you just apply other big4 for normal graduate positions?

KP, EY, DT all take SIM graduates...

your life, your career, but since i had reply to your comment above, i give you another advice, advice not threat ah given that little little bit you unhappy liao.. like strawberry lol....

there is a reason why quite many are saying you need to stay for more then 3 years to get value or your big 4 in your cv is not useful, this is my personal view and may not be the general view but as a hirer, i tell my various recruiting agencies and hr not to waste my time by sending me cv of any candidate whose job history shows that they only stays one year or less in big 4 ... i guess your comment above again help to show why my decision is correct...

as for my original comment, you do know that this forum have a search history function by user posting or you want to be spoon-fed again??

Please don't waste your time starting as AA1... Deloitte hires ppl from UOL as A1. Can try.

I have known too many people who signed their contract and then later backed out of it before even starting work at the Big 4, with no penalties.

Of course, I am not asking you to do that. Its unethical to do so.
:s13: And you may never know, if they changed their policy.

But then, if I am facing an offer from DBS and PwC, its basically a no-brainer for me.:s13:

Nope. Finish 2 yrs ago. Just making the point that verbal is legally enforceable as seen from parol evidence rule. Of cuz alot other factors is involved too.
