I'm currently using 100Mbps cable broadband from Starhub. I'm moving to a new place next week and Opennet cabling is ready. Which fibre should I subscribe to if I want the fastest? Thanks.

Fastest currently is MR/VQ 1Gbps.. but if you encounter delays or kanna play punk by opennet then 偶弥你的陀佛了 :D

ST network is stable. ST 500 Mbps plan and you must be wired. You will enjoy ST Fibre BB. MR 1Gbps is having a lot of problems with many users only getting 100Mbps and some even lower speed of 20Mbps. MR will need a long time to resolve the present issues.

You should ask yourself what you are going to use it for then get the one that will suffice your usage but at a reasonable price for you.

LOL why would u say MR will need a long time to resolve present issues?

Its one thing to recommend people something based on personal usage but isn't it unreasonable to penalize something else without even using it? Just based on what? The experience of others? :s13:

I suggest u get Singtel 500Mbps plan for now and after your contract end in 2 yrs time then change to MR 1Gbps plan. Just need to give MR 2 yrs to resolve their present issue. Do not rush to sign MR 1Gbps plan now as there are many issues that need to be resolve.

So slow speed, if me I would cfcm already. For 100Mbps even wired also not so fast. At least must get 200Mbps. Soon recontract to 300Mbps and may be 2 yrs later go MR 1Gbps plan if MR improve a lot. Some 1Gbps users only getting 100Mbps Actual speed, wired.

I need a good connection to US. Seems that most ISP in Singapore has lousy connections to US right?

Not really as our speed test server may be slow server or may be not fibre connection. If I use ST speed test to server in US which is fibre connection and the server is fast can get at least 160mbps. 32Mbps to USA is only ok, not fast and not slow too. Actually our speed depend on web server speed. Soon will recontract to 300Mbps which is a bit faster.

Some speedtest servers are private server or may be limited to max 100Mbps and with so many doing the speedtest with their servers so this will slow us down.

I'm also considering this plan of action.
As I need stable connection to US and CA server.

VQ a bit on the expensive side.
SH has so many horror stories.
MR will need time to boost their service.

M1 or ST seems like a good choice for now.
Will wait for the next PC show to hunt for deals.

Any thoughts?

What you pay is what you get.

M1 gives Asus router while ST gives crappy routers (Aztech for now, it is better than Pace / 2Wire era)

There is a reason why ST never provide 1Gbps plan and some more being an Op-Co sia.
