Yup there’s a very fast Akamai cache on VQ now. General surfing and many downloads (software updates, music and movies from legit services) should be much faster.

I thought the previous problem with having a local akamai cache was that content would be slow because it is not pre-cached.

Last few days I've had a few intermittent issues with BBC websites when using VQ DNS - images aren't loading, layout sometimes doesn't load properly, etc. Google DNS is fine.

Nothing critical, just thought I'd mention.

Hi Guys, Anyone know how come I can load movie on Qvod player but its not downloading even when I select received all?

It was working normal yesterday when I install the application, Turn on PC today and I cant get the thing to start downloading ....

Is microsoft downloads on the cache server as well ?

General downloads - depends on whether it's already cached.

Windows updates, SPs - definitely on Akamai on VQ network.

Do you see the red ALARM light during disconnection period?

Could indicate (1) degraded OpenNet signal (common) or (2) faulty Zhone modem.

If you see the ALARM light do contact NOC to check the logs of your fiber line. If necessary they will arrange an on-site appointment to take reading & replace the modem or trigger OpenNet investigation as needed.

PPTV not loading latest show

Hi, anybody got problems with PPTV not loading latest shows? (i have freedom VPN)

I'm trying to watch U.S dramas on PPTV, but the app is iffy with the show catalogue.

- sometimes it shows the latest shows, sometimes it doesn't
- like currently, it shows the latest catalogue on my tablet and not on my viewqwest tv, though both are on the same network.

I checked out what i wanted to watch (Hannibal Season 2) online through the official website using a PC and it says my region does not allow me to access... -_-

Following on from the above problem:
would like to understand how the dynamic DNS for freedom VPN works, does it grant me access to china content, it doesn't seem to be the case, cos my connection to china is still slow and i think many sites still region-block me, unless i'm doing it wrong

What's the cir for viewqwest?

ViewQwest’s network connection is pure layer 2 & layer 3 thus there is no MPLS or other frame relay & congestion management.

Thus there’s no CIR per se.

I also faced the same as you for PPTV on iPAD.

Also I used to be able to watch Youku movies before... Now it says .."only available to stream in china network"
