Also seems like purple having network outage now o.0 so far looks like the maintenance for VQ is indeed restricted only to Ayer Rajah as originally planned.

Wow :p

Though, if you consider the cost of a 4G connection, why not just do dual fiber WAN, and get a low-end M1 connection as backup?

Edit: Or cable/DSL if you can get the cheap old plans somehow.

Why not have all three?! :s13:
Dual WAN at home for backup, and 4G for outdoors.

Have this odd problem in my new flat. In my previous flat the zhone was hidden inside the utility closet & was quite far from my bedroom. However my phone was able to detect the wifi signal most of the time & my note 3 had decent speeds as far as wifi standards go.

My new flat is smaller & the zhone is exposed not hidden. So by right my phone should be able to detect the wifi signals better. Not the case. At times my note 3 even tells me my network connection is unstable. Even when it is connected, the speed is a lot slower than in my previous flat. I even tried sitting on my sofa which is like 1m away from the zhone. The note 3 shows the signal as strong though, 4 out of 4 "rings".

Anyone know why? Its the same note 3, the same zhone & the same internet connection (500 mbps).

A story I hear quite often is that the new HDBs have soundproofing in the walls that heavily reduces Wi-Fi range - not sure if there's any truth to that, but at least 2 subscribers in Sengkang have told me that.

Maybe the walls did indeed get thicker? :/

Does the issue persist across all channels?

Yes, my asus ac68 router located in the living room, my master bedroom which is the furthest away has practically no wifi reception. New BTO by the way.

Now thinking want to invest in a repeater or not.

BTO flats in recent years have Cat5E used to wire the phone sockets, you can convert your phone sockets into Cat5E points!

Take a look at the networking guide for BTO flats in this forum. It's very insightful.

If you can do as the guide says you should be able to plant access points in the rooms that require the best signal.

Mine is old flat in Bishan. I only use wifi for my mobile phone. Otherwise im on cat 6 structured cabling

Anyway i tried sitting on my sofa which is 1 metre away from the zhone. No obstruction. Same thing. Either very slow or no access.

Take a note if you use Switch and use Zhone in bridge mode, if you want to reboot Zhone, you may need to remove the Switch first and plug it back after rebooted.

I was facing connectivity problem last night, becasue of changing Power Strip, all equipments are rebooted, and I couldn't get Internet connectivity after that, Zhone kept showing Red Alarm.

After a long call with NOC, realized it could be caused by the Switch (I am using TP-Link 5 ports Switch), so removed Switch to get connectivity back, then plug it back, everything is fine then. Looks like the race condition among all connected devices.

recently i face this problem, torrenting on main pc and gaming d3 on laptop, after i finish gaming normally i will plug out the lan cable from the zhone, but after 2 or 3 mins connection will stop.

i need to off/on then can get the connection back.

i notice if i just torrent/surfing on main pc the connection problem will not happen:s11: does this have something to do with the plug in/plug out of the lan cable on the other ports?

Sounds like interference; changing channels did not help?

Been pushing Zhone to enable channels 12 & 13, but so far… :s22:
