Hi guys,

My adsl 10mbps plan is ending. Planning to get fiber, my household has 5pax

Devices:

5x PC
2x iPad
5x iPhone

Usage: 1 gamer in the house, 1 acestream/sopcast user, 5 spotify and youtube user, rest of usage is standard chrome/email

Please advice 300/300 will suffice or 500/500 needed.? Important criterial is there must not be a drop in performance shld one stream and 1 gamer and the others spotify concurrently.

Exsisting rt-n66u need to change to ac68?

Pls advice. Thank you

Need to scroll down. If I understand correctly, unlike Stinktel where u need to pay quarterly for IDD even if you don't use it, for OneVoice, the activation is FOC with no monthly fee and you pay only when you dial IDD.

What I would like to know is whether incoming overseas calls are also free or is it only free local incoming and outgoing? Also, if someone calls me from overseas, does he still need to add +65 before my phone number?

All incoming calls are free regardless of origin.

Yes the country code of (65) still applies.

You know, you can subscribe to the 300 plan and see if you are happy with it.

If you want more speed, just ask to upgrade to the 500 plan. Unlike the other 3 ISPs, VQ allows you to change plans mid-stream upwards without any penalty.

Welcome abroad.

Cheers

Just some advise ;)

You might want to read up first what RMerlin has posted on the allowable new developments postings on the new ASUSWRT aka ASUSWRT 2.0. This impacts greatly on either the router is on a single core or dual core architecture.

I can't reveal as well, from some quick internal testings shows it's promising :D and ASUS RT-AC87U is coming in soon as well.

is this the firmware? im actually pretty happy with it.. just that i find the QOS lack lustering. if i can set specific UL/DL thresholds for mac address/ip address besides just application. would be perfect.

Yes, The new iQoS is totally revamped from scratch to incorporate more things that what users want to do with it. I can't say it's able to set specific UL/DL thresholds :s22: Just follow RMerlin's postings accordingly and the new iQoS works with hardware acceleration now.

300Mbps is more than sufficient for general usage for a family. Unless there is specific heavy demand (Eg. NAS-to-NAS replication across 2 locations. Even p2p is not considered a heavy demand.), 500Mbps is unlikely required. Start low and upgrade if need arise. That's the freedom you get with ViewQwest.

I'm currently on MR but looking to jump over to VQ when my contract ends. Just a few questions.

1. Can I reuse my Asus router? Or do VQ have their own specific router that must use?

2. Does VQ provide static IP? Need it to port forward for streaming.

3. Any issues with users can't stream live programmes?

According to PeeringDB and elsewhere:
1. US/CA - Any2
3. HK - HKIX
4. UK - LINX
5. SG - Equinix SG1, SG2
6. SG - SGIX
7. SG - SOX @ NUS Gigapop, Global Switch

So you can peer with VQ at any of these locations :)

Just curious...
Any of you guys keen to peer at SGIX?

Any idea if we can create 2 VLANs on the zhone modem in bridge mode ?

Scenario #1
14579629135_4df6c0070a_b.jpg

Modem WAN -- Router WAN
Router LAN Port01 -- Modem Port02, 03-04 as switch ports connecting to other LAN devices.

Modem @ closet, Router @ TV console

I can save on a switch in this setup

Scenario #2
14393011088_f2d9d835b8_b.jpg

Modem WAN -- Router WAN
Router LAN -- Switch Port01, 02-04 as switches ports connecting to other LAN devices

Modem and switch @ closet, Router @ TV console

Have to buy 1 more switch, although it poses a security risk...

Scheduled my installation on the 18th, so looking forward to move in also :s13:

Hmm,

Do anyone knows a better streaming alternative for blockbuster movies? Netflix is great for US dramas but the movie options are sorely lacking. I am not talking about shows from 1-2 years ago but even those movies like Harry Potter, Marvel series, etc are also not available as well.

In fact, I think my hit rate is less than 10% :p

Anyone have any better options out there? Is Sky TV any good?

Also, any better streaming for HK dramas other than PPTV?

We can enable the remaining 3 GE ports on the Zhone as a dumb switch on special request.

You can PM me your subscriber name and postal code after installation and I can arrange that to be done.

On the other hand, we do not configure VLAN tagging on customer LAN.
