Any Econs & Management students in their 3rd year?
What combi are you taking?

Anyone can comment about monetary and indus econs? Is it hard or relatively easier compared to macro and managerial?

For the past 2 years, I always barely pass my econs. Thinking if I should take any more econs mods.

Final yr econs & mgmt here. I've done both macro & managerial. Just passed Macro, but got a B for ME.
According to the lecturers in the Acad Advice session I went to, they said IE is an extension of ME. It is also micro-based - covers a fair bit on price discrimination, competition. It has the stuff you learnt in ME (cournot, betrand models) but without the "insurance" and "asymmetric info" stuff. He also said that since my ME is stronger than Macro, I will hv more interest and confidence to tackle IE as compared to Monetary econs.

My Macro lecturer told me Monetary econs is "really technical, mostly about the money market and exchange rate systems. You really have got to like the money mkt ; it can't be just studied for the sake of it"

I have 3 more modules to go. I have to choose one from Grp E and 2 from Grp M. I chose IE for Group E and Ebiz & MSM from Grp M.

I think if you did well for ME, go for IE ; if better for Macro then Monetary. If you think you rlly cannot do any more econs modules, probably do CF? But then again, CF is not easy.

One last point- I don't think u shld gauge ur aptitude in econs-related modules just by looking at ur yr1 econs modules (intro to econs). Ppl have failed intro twice, even thrice but scored an A for Macro. Just look at which area you are weak in econs - be it costs or market structure - & do the relevant readings/research/looking up at video tutorials/clarifying with lecturers. I did the same too :)

anyone here to advise on my mod, will this be too heavy.it's my final year

-Esap
-ebiz
-OTIA
-ME

thanks!

3 qualitative and 1 quantitative. Maybe you want to offset the qualitative mods by taking another quantitative mod - MSM?
I've done OTIA & it isn't a straightforward module. Concepts are abstract/vague at times. Sunny Goh taught it. Compared to esap, OTIA is tougher.

My suggestion is ebiz, ESAP, ME, MSM. More balanced, IMO :) There will be lots of memory work for the first two mods but atleast u won't feel drained out by taking another 2 quantitative mods :)

ME falls under the mgt mod and as biz deg is somesort like biz mgt deg, therefore ME as a mgt mod is definitely a better mod as it complement each other. A&F and B&F students need acc and finance knowledge thus micro is a better mod for them as it falls under the econs mods which banking and accounting students need to have knowledge of. This is what I feel. If u all got better suggestions can also contribute. Thanks :)

What talking you:s13:??? :s13::s13:
