Damn, guess you are out of luck then, for a permanent solution you’ll still need the Cisco switch (or wait for Ubiquiti to fix this)

Hi,

I just get an ERL and need some guide from all the guru here. I managed to get a basic connection by using ubnt_erl_bridge_config.tar.gz from How To Configure Your Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Lite - SmallNetBuilder

I did a speedtest to SGIX and can only achieve 210Mbps on M1 1Gbps connection. My connection is Windows 8.1 desktop i7 -> TPLink Router (only use as switch) -> ERL -> ONT (M1-White Huawei). within my internal network when I copy file from desktop to my NAS I can achieve 90MB/s (Shown by Windows Explorer which might not accurate).

I'm fully aware that there many variable in here that might affect the speed like my TP Link router/switch, M1 connection, but what bothers me is that when the speedtest happened, the ERL seems like hangs, CPU I guess reach 100%, The webUI interface freeze. In this Thread Maylyn managed to get 400+ Mbps with barely cpu usage.

I did check firewall, and cant find anything special all same like the smallnet config. I check IP4 offloading is enable.

I will try to post the config later. I really appreciate your input

do not use the "bridge", bridge two port will not have the hardware acceleration ..

router 100% CPU issue you can try reset the router .

Thanks, I can confirm that Bridge is the culprit, as soon as I remove the bride I'm able to achive 680+ Mbps and CPU barely hit 3%

Do you mind to elaborate more on this :). I read few release notes of the formaware and few points mention that they fixed few issue regarding bridge offloading.

Currentlly my ERL is on fw version 1.5, but it seems that with Bridge on Eth1 & Eth2 my WAN throughput was limited to 200MB and the CPU usage shown that there is no offloading.

Appreciate your kind input as I just get ERL 2 days ago :)

Need to tap on the knowledge here.

whats the performance hit on ERL if i turn on PBR to route certain IPs towards a VPN tunnel. what kind of nat throughput can I expect?

Considering if I can get away with getting a budget ERL vs a CCR 1009.

I'm using a RB 2011 now. Love it, but it runs out of steam at 300+mbps.

will be moving from purple to black soon.

By default it doesn't. It comes with static IP 192.168.1.1 and no DHCP or DNS forwarding cache configured. You have to configure it or use the Wizard tab in firmware 1.4 and newer for 1WAN+1 or 2LAN.

ok, leave system name server empty.
configure dhcp dns to the router's ip
enable dns forwarding.

any idea how to see what was the dns server ip addresses that were assigned by the ISP?
can't figure out where
